Title kind of says it. I have owned both and last year bought my first Glock. It's ok. Kind of like a new Accord or Camry, goes every time just nothing to get real excited about. I did have my wife and one of her friends, both rarely shoot and then usually revolvers try it and they both had limp wrist fte's within 2 rounds. I know~training issue, but they aren't gun people and interested enough to learn.

Made me think. 90% of the time I carry revolvers anyway. Have thought about selling the couple auto's I own and going revolver only. Anyone done that?

Any thoughts?

oh yeah, this isn't to start a "revolver vs auto" debate. I think auto's are fine, particulalry for those who want them. I just happen to like revolvers.

Not only revolvers, but in my arsenal, they out number semi-autos about 6 to 1. And to anticipate your next question, all but 4 revolvers are 1982 or earlier Smith & Wessons.

Go with what you like. I encourage you and your wife to attend a defensive handgun course with an instructor that knows revolvers. If the instructor only knows semi-autos, the value of the course will be limited. There are many skills to learn beyond shooting, but revolvers require more work to operate proficiently.

It is exceptionally important for you to have proper loaders and belt holders. Speed strips are good for a quick two round reload, but you get a full reload with a loader. Go http://speedloaderstore.com/ and buy Safariland Comp loaders and #371 holders. You will have to buy a gun that uses those loaders. The Safariland loaders beat everything else on the market. Moonclips are great, but carrying them is difficult. Keep this in mind.

I have only revolvers as well, mostly pre-1899 stuff. Other than a Colt 1903, 1908, or 1911, at a ridiculously low price, I have ZERO desire to own anything but a revolver.

I have a Mauser M1910 in .25 ACP that has sentimental value, and a Ruger 22/45 for my grandson to shoot. Other than those, only revolvers, and slowly converting to all Single Actions.

I'm only in my twenties and I'm getting out of my semis in favor of revolvers specifically Smiths. I've had a few other makes including ruger and heritage though and was pleased with their quality but got out of them in favor of more Smiths.

I'll probably keep my 1911 and older smiyh 649 around just cause everyone should have a 1911 and the 649 was my first firearm.

I have carried a revolver for nearly 4 decades. As I approach middle age (for my family) I notice I am begining to resemble my revolvers, round in the middle. Because of that I have purchased a 1911 and if it gives me the same warm and fuzzy feeling my 45 ACp, Model 28-2 S&W does, I will carry it. In the meantime, the same S&W that has been my companion for 30+ years will stay on my hip.

I have dabbled in self loaders before and they have always come lacking in what I consider necessary. As I approach six decades on this earth, maybe my thoughts will change. Or maybe instead of an "N" frame, I will carry a "K" frame!

I have a 1911, 1903 and a Woodsman that rarely ever get shot or carried.

Almost always carry or shoot some kind of revolver.

I have 11 handguns, ALL REVOLVERS; in the following calibers.....
• 22LR
• 22 WMR (MAG)
• 38 Special
• 357 S&W® Magnum
• 41 Remington® Magnum

I carry two every waking moment of every day. Although in days of yore, I owned semi autos in 22LR, 32ACP, 380 ACP, and 9mm; I used them solely for range use. Have used revolvers only for carry guns and always will. For me it's simply a matter of choice because of dependability, reliability, and PROVEN PERFORMANCE. Both sons & one DIL carry 9mms. Daughter & wife carry 38 Specials; I carry a 357 Magnum and a 38 Special every day.

i prefer revolvers and single actions at that. however, i do have autos, and would likely not sell my 1911 as it was my first handgun.

At one time it was all I had but I think the semi autos have there place especially for a SHTF pistol more rounds are better I think... But with that said my edc is a J frame

Dependability, reliability, and proven performance are available in both revolver and semi-auto platforms. So I have both, carry both, compete with both.

Of course the trend in military, law enforcement, and most competition shooting has long been in favor of semis.

I started out strictly with all revolvers but my brother swayed me to the Dark side of semi-autos with his Mauser HSc and Browning Hi-Power. Still a revolver kind of guy at heart with several nice S&Ws to choose from and an ongoing fascination with single action revolvers (my very first revolver was a Hawes Deputy Marshall in .22LR/.22Mag.).

I currently have 1 semi-automatic pistol but it is for sale and will be replaced with a single-action revolver.

As I approach middle age.....
As I approach six decades on this earth.....

Soooo, you're approaching middle age and your sixth decade on this earth simultaneously?

I must say, I admire your outlook!

I own more semis than revolvers but sometimes, ONLY a revolver will do.

Not "only" but they are definitely the vast majority by a margin of 4-1. Aside from 1911's and .22's, I'd only have two.

I love collecting Smith revolvers and have a bunch. Also Ruger makes a fine working revolver. But for CCW and HD, I tend to turn to Glocks.

(Except when my 442-1 fills the need. :))

I have had many autos. They come and they go. Only 2 have really stuck around, a Phoenix hp22a and a Taurus pt99. I have even bought and sold various guns of these models. I have had my wheel guns for years and couldn't think of parting with them. All of my current wants are revolvers except for an older ppk.

I'm a revolver only kinda guy. I've tried any number of high quality auto loaders over the years and everyone of them has had problems of one kind or another. I also prefer the point and shoot qualities of the revolver; no question of is there a round in the chamber, or racking the slide, and working a safety.

I'm also with Straw Hat, N frame are great fun to own and shoot, but for day-to-day carry I use my K frames.
