He's apparently very much for gun control in the US. Guess I won't be watching any more of his movies.

FTA:
Neeson has branded the current way of dealing with gun control in the U.S. "crazy" and insists officials should follow the U.K., where handguns were swiftly outlawed..

It is the right to bear arms which is the problem. I think if the Founding Fathers knew what was happening they would be turning in their graves with embarrassment at how that law has been interpreted."

guess I will be joining you.

just watched a drunk save a plane full of people with several handguns.
when he puts his down I will also.

I love when these Hollywood hotshots get up and bash the RKBA when their careers are made from violent movies using the evil weapons. I agree, No more movies with Liam Neeson. And I was looking forward to the latest one. Oh well, I will just watch an old Clint Eastwood film instead.

I really don't care about the political rants of tv and movie stars. I ignore them like everything else when I'm watching something for its entertainment value.

Then perhaps he should leave the U.S. and go back to the U.K. and 'enjoy' UK gun control, maybe he could take Piers Morgan with him.

This.

Actors make their livings pretending to be something that they're not. An acting role is a payday. What or who they portray has nothing to do with what or who they really are. Clint Eastwood, for instance, is known by his friends as being a gentle guy who wouldn't hurt a worm.

That said...it always amuses me...shortly before it angers me...when a foreign national avails himself/herself of our
lucrative market and our liberties...and then bashes our
laws and works or even opines that we should adopt those
of their native countries.

If the UK is so wonderful, then Mr. Neeson should go back there and stay. I'm sure that there are talented European script writers and directors who would be willing to work with him.

"It is the right to bear arms which is the problem. I think if the Founding Fathers knew what was happening they would be turning in their graves with embarrassment at how that law has been interpreted."

Does Mr. Neeson actually believe criminals are concerned with whether or not they have a "right to keep and bear arms?" They will own, carry and use guns as they please toward their criminal ends, regardless of any second amendment.
I am pretty much sure the founders also had some criminals to contend with who felt exactly the same -- no concern with rights; they will carry because they need to intimidate victims who they rob.

I actually agree with this statement. They probably are turning in their graves with embarrassment at how the CURRENT ADMINISTRATION is interpreting the law.

My wife will comment when some Hollywood type comments on anything outside their realm. Something along the lines "Oh I didn't know Neesom is a Constitutional scholar", she will say it as if it's a really straight up statement. Of course those kind of 2nd Amendment proclamations coming from stoned musicians are so much deeper for all of us. Neesom's is much more worthy.

In the UK, violent crime is approximately 4 times that of the US. Without guns, the young and violent rule. Gun are the great equalizer. The UK is no paradise. I understand that there are sections of London where the police do not venture due to the high violence and gang related issues.

Anti gun views....

I don't think an actor's personal beliefs or political views will affect what I see or enjoy. Only when celebs or pro athletes are hypocrits.
When actors or media celebs say people should own guns or hunt then they get arrested with guns or have armed bodyguards/security.

If actors or Hollywood types don't want guns or feel they are "superior" they can stay in CA or New York City.
In Nov, 2013 I did some work on a feature film in western PA. A few of the actors were condescending & insulting about guns-2A issues.
They didn't live & work in PA so it's not that big of deal, but I get irked at people who feel their safety or security or welfare are somehow more important than your's.

I seem to recall somewhere in history a rebellion caused, in part, by the right to keep and bear arms. Looks like Liam Neeson would like to see history repeated. As a foreigner, like any foreigners, he should have no say in how a different sovereign nation conducts business. Just because Brits signed away their rights does not mean we will or even should. If he really feels that strongly about gun control, he can give back all the money he made in any movie where he uses a firearm. Otherwise, he can shut up.

Personally, I find it tremendously amusing when Her Majesty's subjects come here and opine on the need for gun control in the Colonies. I wish more of them would do it as the irony is just terrific. About the only thing that could make it better is a redcoat and a powdered wig.

Mr. Neeson, BYE!

If The UK had been in control of the colonist and had banned firearms we would still be under British rule. Mr. Neeson may not believe that we have the right to bear arms, but through our constitution he has the right to free speech. Personally, I believe that he should go back to England and stay there.

Neeson....

Neeson is from Belfast in Northern Ireland. He is well aware of the UK problems & issues I'm sure.
Like I posted, Neeson or any other actor/celeb can have or express their views but they need to respect or consider the views of others.
Voters & citizens vote on or decide what they want. If a actor or celeb doesn't like it, they can not go to that location or follow the laws/statues/ordinances.

Meh, he is entitled to his opinion just the same as anyone else. Will that stop me from seeing another of his movies? Not really. If I were to do that I'd have to stop watching TV or movies altogether as neither are friendly to our cause.

Exactly.
Another thing to ponder: even if the main actor in a movie is anti, there are plenty of other cast members, production and film set crew who aren't. When I go see one of those films I am happy in the knowledge that my ticket fee went to the guys off camera who aren't antis.

Depends how you define violent crime. In the UK affray is a violent crime, it skews stats. If you post the link to how you got that number I'm sure you will find you are comparing apples to oranges.

Our Constitution affirms the right to bear arms as well as the right to free speech. As a matter of fact, that applies to me as well, and I think he is a blowhard, just like Piers Morgan, that needs to keep his mouth shut about Americans' rights.

I don't usually pay attention to what celebs say either but if they hear about enough people who state they will boycott their movies because of their anti-American statements, it may just make one of the next ones stop and think before speaking out against us.

The founding fathers would be spinning in their graves.

Does anyone think that George Washington would stand by while a stranger felt up Martha? How's that April 15 date work out for Patrick Henry? Think Thomas Jefferson be happy about a SWAT team raiding his organic farm? Oh, the silly thing about no permit to build Montecello. Building must be torn down. I'm sure Ben Franklin would love having his carriage pulled over for DoT issues. The old wagoneer, Daniel Morgan, would gladly turn in his rifle since the county sheriff can protect him.

Yep, our founding fathers would not only spin in their graves, they'd hang their heads in shame at what we've allowed our politicians to get away with.
