Looked at a Kimber rifle, your opinions?

Gtscotty, yes it's chambered in .375 H&H Mag and the felt recoil is fine. The rifle and scope weigh 9lb which isn't unusual for rifles of this type. I have a Savage Weather Warrior in 7mm-08 Rem that seems to have more felt recoil than the Talkeetna.

Hard for me to photograph inside the chamber, you can see plainly one of the 'rings' created by a worn reamer or some such. There are 3 others that are easily seen but I can't get the camera to pick them up.. Brass also shows where some of the rings are - it's a little more pronounced in person but not too much.

Note the machining gouges at the rear of the receiver, and this is after it was bead blasted.

It is a light, handy, accurate rifle. Good trigger. The group is not cherry picked, it's the only one I shot, Federal XM80 factory ammo at 83 yards. I'm no rifle shot and this seems quite satisfactory to me. No doubt in my mind you rifle guys could cut it to well under an inch.

I'm very fortunate to have my own range.

Also can't photograph it but the bolt has to me excessive 'wobble' when fully retracted, as if it's too small for the bore in the bridge.

Now none of these things are catastrophes. On a $700 Remington they would be no issue. On a $1400 rifle I think it's fair to expect better. Especially that chamber - that work is not 'match grade'.

I like the little rifle and I suppose I'm glad I have it, but I'm not particularly proud of it.

If you need a super-lightweight rifle, they fit the bill nicely...

But if you just want an expensive rifle, I'd go elsewhere.
But if you want a great quality regular-weight rifle, I'd go elsewhere
