Samco has it this moment. The last time Samco had such actual (corrosive primer) surplus Brit. .303 was in April/May '09.
It was priced-even though it was almost sold out-at approx. .22/rd.

A batch of 1,000 rds. I bought back in April '09 had the head stamp "England '43 (or '42)".
In May '09 Samco's website stated "Sold Out" and remained so.

Yeah, that's where I found it, I had to edit my post and add the link, i forgot the first time cause i'm a goof

That's a good price and the ammo was manufactured in the 60's but the notations say it's corrosive and it's Berdan primed. It's too bad the brass isn't easily reloadable.
Thanks again for the link...

Yes indeed!

"P.O.F." is "Pakistani Ordnance Factory", and virtually all the websites dealing with military firearms have strong cautions against using their production.... in ANY CALIBER.

I have never used POF but I have never heard a single good review on anything they've ever turned out. 8mm mauser, 303 brit, 7.62 nato(I think I recall 7.62 nato anyway)... it's never once had a good review.

I am kindof wary of dealing with samco after buying some...questionable products from them. the wood bullets are kindof pointless as-is. they have the potential to be lethal but the wood is so old most of it disintegrates midflight. I bought 800 rounds of the stuff because it's 5 cents a round, pulled all the bullets and powder, and then load PRIV bullets from Grafs(27 cents each after shipping) and put my own powder charge in... in all about 33 cents a round for quality 6.5 swedish mauser ammunition and since it's berdan primed, I don't even have to bother with picking up my brass when I'm done.

POF? ive been seeing this stuff constantly for the last few years at one place or another. most people wont buy it since its garbage.

i shot a bunch of their .308 and it was terrible

The 6.5x55 cartridges with mood "bullets" are BLANKS.

The Swedes had a muzzle attachment which was screwed onto those barrrel threads. It was designed to split the wooden bullets into "harmless" slivers.

Like all blanks, they should be used with care(not pointed at anything or ANYBODY they might harm).

Years ago when the POF .303Brit was available for less than 10¢/rd I thought about buying some just for the bullets.

Not long afterwards I was able to buy some old multi-Brit-mfr (but not POF) MkVII ammo (possibly even from Samco) for a relatively cheap price. After testing the various headstamps I determined which to use as ammo and from which to simply harvest the bullets.

Beware of Samco.
They refuse to ship to my county here in CA even though it is perfectly legal. Sent them a copy of the county regs and still they refused. What kind of business won't take my money? I just got an ammo order delivered to my door yesterday.....too bad Samco.

A few guys will buy ten thousand rounds each stack them in the basement and a year and a half from now start complaining on gun forums about the lack of 303 ball ammo

What kind of state bans stuff and has no preemption laws so that every county/city can pass their own laws making compliance difficult for everyone.

Don't blame the company, blame your neighbors for electing the people who pass dumb laws.

The 6.5 they use to have I wanted was the Gallery loads. A little jacketed wad cutter of very light weight used for training at very short range. I saw it everywhere.......until I bought a Swede Mauser......

I have heard of folks buying the wooden blank rounds, pulling the bullet, tossing the powder and reloading as squib or even midrange loads with commercial bullets.

Does not sound particularly safe to me.

Anyone else actually tried this in large enough numbers to have an opinion?

CA has preemption. Those laws apply to FIREARMS, not ammo. Any municipality in any state can restrict ammo, which is classified as a hazardous material anyway, not a constitutionally protected product.

as I said, beware of samco for reasons that the stuff they sell is of questionably origins and authenticity. their prices are way above average market, but they are strangely the only ones who regularly have certain hard to find items in stock. I could care less that they wont ship to the soviet republic of california, I care that the stuff they do ship may be forged.

Just buy the Prvi Parizan current production ammo. Saves you the headache.

I just read a thread about the PRVI factory ammo, supposedly it's very dirty and inconsistent. I like their brass, I like their bullets, but apparently their source for power or primers needs work.

Their brass is great. Their ammo is inconsistent as far as accuracy goes though. The surplus .303 shoots way better than the Privi stuff out of my two Enfields.

CTD has HXP .303 if you want good stuff, and if you want to deal with those guys, $30 to ship.

Anything Pakistani is disposed of that I come across. After half a magazine .303 go hang fire on me, they were pitched, and saw some .308 destroy the bolt of a M1A.

It's only good for the pulls. Not worth it.

I try to avoid using ammo that comes from a country where I wouldn't drink the water.

Pakistan is one of those countries.
