as I said, beware of samco for reasons that the stuff they sell is of questionably origins and authenticity.
 I wasn't referring to you having said "Beware of Samco" ... because you didn't until after my post ... bainter1212 said "Beware of Samco" ... and followed that with some silliness as the reason for such a warning.

Myself (and many others in different parts of CA) have had trouble getting Samco to ship anything to us. As far as we can tell, they refuse simply because they hate CA (and seem to think that they are somehow going to change the laws in CA by not selling to us).

Most of us laugh it off and spend our money somewhere else.

My "beware" comment was an attempt to warn those who live in "battleground" states that Samco routinely refuses to ship to places for no apparently logical reason.

It seems that the company is run by old, angry codgers (at least based on phone conversations with them).

Funny, I have recieved countless of thousands of rounds delivered to my door from dozens of companies with no problems. Even AR uppers right to my door.....heck, even whole C&R rifles.

I am sure they were happy to take my money.

Given CA's political climate, they may be afraid of running afoul of some law that they've never even heard of. I'd imagine giving up the shooting market in CA is painful to any firearms related business - there are a lot of gun owners in CA - so it can't be just old codgerdom.

On .303 ammo, my brother was shooting some of that Pakistani stuff from the 60's out of a hack-job sporterized SMLE today. It seemed fairly accurate, given the limitations of our equipment and the fact that the sun was setting directly in our eyes while we were shooting. He had one misfire that didn't fire on the second or third strike in the 20 or so rounds he fired, but no hangfires and all rounds seemed to be consistent.

The very first .303 ammo that I ever shot was POF, back in 1985. I bought it along with my No.4 Mk. I at Woolworth's.

Even nearly 30 years ago that stuff was crap. Numerous hang fires and the ammo that did go off must not have been developing full velocity, because the recoil was noticeably less than the good milsurp .303 available in the 80s (e.g., Winchester, MEN, and HXP).

Spend a bit more and buy some Prvi Partisan, Sellier & Bellot, Herter's (made by S&B), or some HXP from CTD. You will be much happier with the ammo, and it has nice, reloadable brass.

I just got a case of the HXP. It's all vintage 1976, clean, and it came in clips. A case of 450 rounds came with 90 clips, which are worth $1 to $1.50 each.
