Shocked by anti-gun comments

I agree with most of the previous posts.
An Uber driver should not be shocked to discover his passengers are not gun enthusiasts.
I'd be more shocked to discover they were gun enthusiasts.

Very little difference. The local paper, The Tallahassee Democrat, might as as well be the Moscow Pravda, 1950. Very little difference.

The '60's live in Tally!

Right you are! We may have a 'Republican' state government <kinda sorta>, but the city is firmly rooted in lalaland. Our city and count commissions are packed with liberals. I read the "Zings" in the Tally Democrat mullet wrapper, and am now two for five on getting mine published (small opinion blurbs about any topic), and the leftwingnuts are rampant. Our current flap about CCW guns on campus really has their feathers ruffled!
They also virently hate State Employees, as does our governor, which really irks us State Employees! Glad I am now retired, but I still read the hate in the paper. Our old Sheriff was very pro-gun, not sure about the new Sheriff yet.

Nashville...Big city life, in the middle of Tennessee. Schools like Vandy, trevecca, and others draw the "elite" young crowd while the country music thing draws the older crowd, all the while the residents make a huge swing from among the poorest in the nation to those who are upper echelon corporate big-wigs. Who is surprised that there is a huge amount of diversity in beliefs, and with a big event like the NRA convention that will drum up conversation about the event. People either like guns, don't like guns, or think only certain people should have them....as has been said repeatedly on here, we are collectively an extreme outlier on the stance on guns. We shouldn't be suprised when others don't share our views. And to the OP, good job keeping your yap shut, and good job on staying armed and supporting the 2A.

At a Carls Jr Monday enjoying that fabulous new bacon burger with the Mrs, I overheard a conversation that involved this statement :

".... And we're MILITANTLY anti-gun...."

I almost snorted bacon through my nose at the thought of having to explain to these two soccer moms exactly how much they'd lose that one , 100 for 100.

They kept bleeting until I finished my zucchini, and we left, chortling.

well there is also 2 universities there......

although adding the capitol doesn't hurt one bit either towards the anti gun big city style of thinking attitudes.....

take gainesville.....out side of the big university and it's surrounding areas of like minded big city style gun grabber type folks...... it's old florida thinking folks. literally cross the street and it's big city attitudes. vs. dixie county with zero universities and no gun grabbers that can last through the night there. i'm exaggerating a little but not too much.

in regards to Vanderbilt, you'd be surprised at how many non-liberals attend there. While a lot of the professors are old hippy 60's protestors, you should have seen how many came out to support George W and the war effort back in 2003 when he had a campaign stop across the street from my freshman dorm. Of course it may have changed drastically since I left....

Today, I had 2 riders and the subject of the NRA came up... One man laughed saying "You'll probably have guns in your car while bringing people to the vent"...

My answer was "Then, we probably won't be car-jacked"...

The car got quiet as they couldn't figure out my politics...

Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor, especially if you want to stay employed

^ This.

And if you think the anti's rhetoric is bad these days, you should have experienced it in the 80s. It was a real delight.

So much for liberals being open minded and tolerant :neener:

I think Uber's days are numbered. Litigation is well underway to make Uber treat all drivers as employees, which will require the same withholding, insurance and licensing as taxi drivers.

This will leave Uber as nothing but a high tech dispatching system with no real price advantage.

If you are carrying a concealed weapon for your defense, why would you tell your riders you are carrying?

We all have and are entitled to our opinions, but the idea of flashing your weapon really wont help anything at all. Especially if it escalates the situation. Using deadly force with a concealed weapon is along way from someone expressing their opinion.

please be safe.

This post doesn't make any sense at all.
The OP never even hinted or implied he had the urge to tell anyone he was carrying.
FYI, it's generally considered a good idea to actually READ what's actually been said, before commenting. :scrutiny:
