The Hodgen/Winchester/IMR website nor their "manual" / booklet reference what primer to use on the 223 55gr H335 load. Is it safe to assume that it is a Winchester/Hodgen site and to use their SR primer. All of my old school books push a SRM primer with H335............Winchester doesn't make a mag primer.

Well, when I look it up on Hodgdon's website, it says this right above the load data.

Case: Winchester Twist: 1:12" Primer: Winchester SR, Small Rifle Barrel Length: 15" Trim Length: 1.750"

Winchester markets their primers as being magnum. They don't make a standard primer. In any case, magnum primers are about the powder used. Nothing else matters.

H335 is a good powder if you do t have anything else on the shelf for 223. I used it a lot when the powder scare came. No one around here I guess uses it. Because that was a powder that was always on the shelf, but no one wanted it

H335 likes mag primers in my experience, but shoots well with standard ones. .223 is a small case, which helps. Bigger charges I would definitely use a mag primer.
