9mm powder choices

Power Pistol is current favorite. From what I have read and seen from using it, you cannot double charge with it. It does give an impressive muzzle flash.

I was able to pick up 4 lb of WSF a while back.
It seems to be working out well for me.
Loaded starting charge 3.7 with MBC coated lead 147s worked well.
Also worked well with the RMR 124 Plated.

I have also had good luck with BE86 and it meter well in my LPD.
Of course I am still hoping some of my favorite Universal will show up again sometime.........
WSF meters well in my Lee pro disk. If you have the Lee disk the listed VMD for WSF is .084 but my can is closer to .9. (caculated using a couple of different size disks)

Im a fan of the slower burners in 9mm..4756 being my favorite. On their website, Nosler shows their best load with their 115gr*** is with 4756, so Im not the only one. Try it if you can get your hands on any. I'd imagine the pickings are slim though, since theyre phasing it out, if they havent already.

***I think its their 115gr..could be mistaken though.

Lots of WSF for me w/jacketed 115, 124 and 125g projectiles in 9mmx19.
Goal is SAAMI spec performance.
(say around 124g @ 1110 ft/sec, 115g @1170 ft/sec)

Lately been using AutoComp w/125g HAP projectiles since WSF seems to be hard to find in my area for quite a while.

7625 and 4756 I am afraid have went the way of the Dodo bird.
I will miss both.
Only had a chance to use 1 lb of each, looked and looked for more 7625 none to be had. :banghead:

I also liked N320 but I just don't think it's worth the extra money.
If you like to load heavy Longshot is great and last time I looked there was some around.

I have used a bunch of powders in 9mm
7625, 4756, Autocomp, Bullseye, BE86, HP38, Longshot, N320, Power Pistol, Promo, Titegroup, Unique, Universal, WSF (have CFE pistol but have not used it yet)
(May be forgetting something here--getting senile in my old age :) )

The only one I would not buy again is Unique (unless there was nothing else) and that is because of the way it meters in less than 5gr amounts in my LPD.
As a side note the large Promo flakes meter great in my LPD, can throw 3.9 + or - .1 all day.

Some work better for light loads, some are better for heavier loads, just depends on what you are after and of course what you can find.

I've only used Bullseye, Unique and W231/HP38. The W231 is my favorite of those by far.

However I've heard great things about Power Pistol and Autocomp. I have a pound or two or Autocomp stuck back that I got in a trade a year or two ago but haven't tried it in anything yet. I'm gonna have to do that.

My favorite to date is CFE Pistol. Meters great and shoots great. I load on the max end of 5.0gr under a 124gr lrn at a length of 1.160". I've played around with BE-86, but so far haven't found a load more accurate than the CFE Pistol. I've also used 231, Autocomp and Blue Dot. All three worked good and would use again. The Blue Dot was loaded close to max and burned clean for me. The 231 worked very well also. The Autocomp was a bit too snappy for my liking. It definitely had no issues cycling a slide!

I tried WST but it really fills the case. My go to for many thousands of rounds is AA#5.

Imr 800 x has been available for me and I use bulleye a lot for 9mm.

I load only 147 grain copper plated bullets for the range and Hornady 147 XTP's for my carry 9's. Almost anything works in 9mm but my favs are N340 and N350. I acquired this stuff during the crunch as nothing else was available and stuck with them because of the accuracy. I'll probably go back to lesser expensive powders when my supply is gone.

Have had great results with Longshot, verrrry accurate at upper end of loading, with easy 1150 + with 124 gr.

Opps getting senile make that 2 lbs of 4756 one of 7625.
If you want to push them hard in 9mm Longshot (loudshot) works great.
It is ok for medium (a bit dirty there)and starts to shine as you get closer to the MAX.

I like Power Pistol and CFE Pistol a LOT in 9.
They also work well for me in .45.
HP-38 also works well but I have a personal preference for the first two

WSF works well, and is available (Recob's). I prefer Power Pistol, Green Dot and BE-86 for 9mm. I use mostly Hornady 115 HAP bullets or coated 124 or 147 bullets from SNS, Bayou or Falcon. All are very good combos.

My only experience so far is with Autocomp and Titegroup. My G19C seems to like the Autocomp loads a little more than my 17s and 34.

Am I the only one left who actually likes Unique?
It is my go to powder for 9mm.
Muzzle flash is minimal, and its not as loud as some others.
I stick with 115 grain Sierra JHP or XTP, with up to 5.8 grains and get them to run an average of 1250 FPS.
Fired from 30ft, I can cover 5 shot groups with one hand, and thats good enough for me.
Im still waiting to have an issue with how dirty I keep hearing the stuff is.

Metering isnt the greatest, but...meh. Im not running a lot of volume and I dont mind weighing them out.

Yep, as far as I'm concerned.

Your last line of your post describes about 60% of my problem with unique.
