been shooting mainly 9mm 125 and 147gr loads, i want to try another powder other than my usual titegroup, bullseye, unique and w231. been hearing good things on the Ramshot Competition, WST and WSF, any suggestions or shooters having success with any of them.

I've been playing around with 9mm lately. I've found that AA#5 works very well. I've settled in AA#2 for my plinking load though. It shoots very soft with a 115 grain bullet.

While load data isn't everywhere WST makes some very good 9mm. I don't use it though, and probably not for the reason most would guess. Lack of load data doesn't bother me. In one of those guys that will make my own by consulting burn rate charts and working up a load. I don't use it because it's a very full case load in 9mm. While that's good to prevent a double charge I load on a progressive. When the shell plate indexes it throws powder out if the case. It's just too full. I went with a different powder because if that.

Power Pistol is FANTASTIC in 9mm but depending on bullet weight and charge weight you could end up with what I described above with WST if using a progressive.

9mm works best with the slower pistol powders. Power Pistol is the go to powder in 9mm for Hornady and it has worked very well for me. AA#7 was made specifically for 9mm and Hornady highly recommends it in 9mm too, especially with heavier bullets. I've had very good results with N350 and 3N37 from VihtaVuori and the now discontinued SR4756.

Of the three powders you mentioned, WST, Competition and WSF, WSF would be the best choice in 9mm. The other two will work but they are too fast for optimum performance.

Depends on what you are looking for. Some people want economical, some people want soft shooting, others want max velocity.

I have used W231, Power Pistol but now have switched to BE-86 it looks like it was made for 9mm :what:

I'll throw one in for Ramshot Silhouette. Mostly used with 115 and 124 gr. bullets.

It's worth a look, and has been seen more here recently than most other powders. :)

PowerPistol is superb in 9mm. I use it for medium to off-the-charts-full-tilt loads with jacketed bullets.

I like WST for low power cast plinkers. It seems to work well at lower pressures. Seeing as how very little data is available, and that it is marketed primarily for shot shells, I recommend staying on the low end of things in 9mm loads.

Power Pistol works great for me. Also BE86, AA#7, and 3N37.

One thing I liked about AA#7 is that it works well through the whole charge range. I had low standard deviations and good accuracy even at the lower charges.

3N37 is good for higher velocity loads.

I very much prefer Ramshot True Blue. So much so I've standardized on it for 9mm, 40 S&W and 45 ACP. I also like Ramshot Silhouette.

Both work very well for me in all three applications: clean burning, meter well in my Dillon powder measures and the charges are large enough that a double charge is easily recognized.

WSF is what I use for all my 9mm loads. It being a medium/slow burn powder allows you to get max velocity if needed. It's a ball powder so it meters well in most all dispensers.

Power Pistol, BE-86, HS-6 (personal fav for 147) N320 (personal fav for 124 grain) and N330 are in my 9mm powder arsenal.

Heard titegroup is good too.

Competition didn't work well for me in 9mm. I was way above max listed loads and my gun still wouldn't cycle. Ended up using up that powder in .45 ACP.

Actually my favorite powders are the ones you're already using: most of what I load uses Bullseye and/or Unique.

WSF works good and provided me with good groups but I've never chrono'd it.
Autocomp is another powder you can look into provides good groups and 5.2grs. under a 125gr. plated bullet yields an avg. 1140fps out of a 5" barrel.

I use Green Dot exclusively. It's a bit faster than Unique, making it perfect for 115gr and 124gr loads and quite acceptable for 147gr loads. It's inexpensive and generally has been easy to find relative to other powders.

Looks like you need something a bit different so Longshot and Power Pistol could be options. I have had good accuracy with both powders.

When I look for a new powder to use I normally look at something I can load in 357sig, 9mm and 40cal, so probably my next powder will be AA#7, if I can find it.

Your choices of powders are about it. W-231 is what I have settled on for 9mm X 19. It's just hard to beat.
I do like and use WSF in my Kimber UCC II .45 ACP for carry, but W-231 works well there too.

Another Vote for AA#5 for Plinkers and #7 for full power loads. They meter superbly and deliver consistency velocities from 115 - 147g loads.

I also use Green Dot works good for me I have used it on 115 gr. and 124 gr. Berry's plated bullets.
