Taking a year off from big game hunting

My buying a deer tag over the last couple of seasons has been much like when I got married a second time. The triumph of Hope over Experience...


I am lucky that I can hunt out back as well as next door so I'm just out the cost of tags.

I am finally going deer hunting this year after 6 years of occasional quail/dove hunting.
I really hope this signals the end of my hunting/fishing/camping dry spell, I've really missed it.

I didn't hunt last deer season but my kids got drawn for several state youth hunts and both took their first deer. That has to be my favorite season even though I didn't carry a firearm or bow. I am looking forward to getting back out there this year.
