I am moving to SC from PA and need to take my guns. I have two revolvers which with my PA carry permit am able to carry concealed in my vehicle until I get to SC. Then I have put it in the glove box. The other revolver will be locked in it's case. My shotgun doesn't have a case but came with a...
My New "Tactical" 870 [PICS]
Finally got my 870 with the LaserMax Laser/Light combo. I paid $560 for everything.

I bough a 870 HD shotgun, with a 18 inch barrel and a 7 shot capacity, and was surprised when I had to fill out the background check form as I had done in the past when purchasing a handgun. I thought there was no background checks for long guns. Is this new? For reference, I live in PA.
I'm going to purchase a 870 Express Synthetic 7-Round. I see they list the barrel as a 18" Fixed Cylinder Choke. I'm guessing this means there is no choke?
I load my 1.875" S&W model 360 with Remington Golden Saber 357s. The ballistics listed on Remington's website have the 125 gr going 1220 fps at the muzzle of a 4" revolver. Would shooting this round out of my 1.875" revolver cause the velocity to drop below the sonic level?
I'm going to join the NRA, I'm just not sure which option to take. I know you can get a 10% discount from Shooting USA. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I'm going to be getting a NEW 7 shot 870 Express HD. This will be my first shotgun and I have a few questions on the break-in, first shooting "process." Once I get the shotgun should I :
1) Shoot it right out of the box to make sure it functions properly.
2) Clean before the 1st shooting...

I'm thinking about getting a Remington Model 870 Tac-2. I can get it for $549.99, which I guess ain't a bad price. Anyone have one or can recommend a comparable house gun. I like the stock and the extended tube already on the gun.
Guns Save Lives
By John Stossel
It's all too predictable. A day after a gunman killed six people and wounded 18 others at Northern Illinois University, The New York Times criticized the U.S. Interior Department for preparing to rethink its ban on guns in national parks.
The editorial...
I'm from Pennsylvania and will be moving to South Carolina to attend graduate school at Clemson. I want to carry concealed but there seems to be many hoops you must jump through to carry in SC, especially since it's so easy to carry in PA. Anyhow, I would like a conceal carry permit but if not...
