My New "Tactical" 870 [PICS]

Finally got my 870 with the LaserMax Laser/Light combo. I paid $560 for everything.

Man.. that is not what was in my mind at all. I saw angels, unicorns, and beer fountains.

It looks like a nice one. Have you shot it yet?

Not yet. The club I belong to shut the range down because its fairly close to our lake and PA trout season opened last week. :fire: Hopefully it will be open this weekend.

Man that shotgun is sweet. I have the same gun but no laser. HHHMMMMM:evil:

How is that lazer secured on there?
It clamps around the extension tube. Here's a picture of the front of it.

THR really helped me out with my decision. Vast amount of knowledge going on around here.:D

yeah, THR is a great source of info. most of the folks on here are decent and helpful.

you'll have to let us know how it shoots. range reports are awesome!

Enjoy it. I'd be especially interested in your report on that laser. It's hard for me to imagine one on a shotgun so I'd appreciate knowing what you think.

While lasers are not always necessary I think they cant hurt. A little red dot on your chest says "don't f*ck with me" in many languages, including the language of many non-English speaking illegal immigrants that seem to be perpetrating more and more crimes. The light also illuminates very well which is good if you need to use the shotgun in the middle of the night. I pray to God I never need to use it, but if I have to the extra money spent will be worth it. I also thought I would want a Knoxx SpecOps Adjustable Stock but the factory butt stock fells very comfortable.

Nice looking setup! I have an 870 Express with the Wilson Combat / Scattergun technologies extension and am not sure if I could fit that LaserMax setup on it or not- it's just a wee bit larger in diameter than the factory extension. The guys at LaserMax couldn't say it would fit for sure, so I have been holding off.

They got rid of that silly J-safety on newer 870s, didn't they? Mine came with one, but it was a good excuse to install a Wilson jumbo head safety. :)

Overall, it patterns well with cheapo Wolf OO buck but starts getting flyaways at longer ranges. Next time I am going to cycle some Federal Premium with the Flitecontrol wad to see if that's going in the tube instead.

They got rid of the J-safety. I bought 100 rounds of Federal Field and Target from Wal-Mart that I'll be messing around with. I have some Remington 00 Buck to load for self defense.

I finally got to shoot my 870 over the weekend. It shot very well and the laser/light was fun for hip shots. At approximately 15 yards it had an 8 inch pattern with the Remington 00 Buck shot and with the cheaper 00 Buck had around a 12 inch pattern. The action was a little tight but I suppose it will smooth up with use. I had some guy come over and ask what was on the front of my gun. I told him it was a laser and he said "cool." Overall the gun is great and I'm sure I'll have many more years with it.
