I'd go with the Mosin...tough gun, last forever if cared for even a little...more versatile than a shotgun...when out of ammo it can be an effective club, anchor, hammer, oar, tent stake, jack handle, firewood, etc., etc....
None of this means anything until the USSC determines what it means. Then it may still take years for us to see what the fallout from their decision may be...years of lawyers wrangling over terms and concepts.
Like AirForceShooter said, "reasonable control" is frightening...and I'm afraid...
Retired high school teacher, coach and high school principal. Spent my career in eastern Oregon and rural middle Tennessee. Both places I've been were nearly entirely pro-gun; or at least apathetic towards them. Many, many of the teachers were gun owners, hunters.
We had trap teams at one of...
Ummm...Chris Plitt? I know you in real life. Ya might not want to state "I don't pay taxes to the state..." and use your real name and real hometown.
But, I dunno, that's just how I run...
We usually just measured them by how many hernias, heart attacks and slipped discs they caused...
Size kind of depends on where you're going. Do a google search for "average elk cow size" --I did and got 228,000 hits.
My experience has them around 500 pounds...height? I don't...
I have 21 and 19 year old daughters (keep the comments to yourself, fellas) and they both shoot, (and LIKE it!) and the oldest has a CCW. I asked her about this today, and she told me she wouldn't reveal that she carried to a guy on their first date, even if she found him with a gun. She said...
Lake Winnie, you may be confusing a shooting being stopped in Missouri with the shooting in Pearl, Mississippi...(then again, maybe not).
Here's a link about the shooting in Pearl being stopped. http://www.davekopel.com/2A/OthWr/principal&gun.htm
In a former life, I was a teacher for 14...
48, been shooting for 43 years. Got a .22 bolt action when I was 10 for Christmas (still have it!), bought my first rifle (Rem. Mdl 788 .243, still have it!) with my own money when I was 11 and have been reloading since I was 15.
Oh, I guess I'll stick with it...:)
Shoot, if you've ever been to that part of Montana you'd know the whole place is a giant landing strip. Flat and open. One way you hear it described is "vast"--code for flat and no trees!
For an act of showing a gun to be considered "brandishing", doesn't the intent matter? In other words, isn't it brandishing if the intent is to intimidate, or warn? Is it still brandishing if the intent is to comfort (regardless if you feel it was ok for him to do that, that was the intent.)...
Last Sunday, our preacher told the story of visiting the Smithsonian last month with his family. His 11 year old son forgot and had a nice folding knife with a 3" blade in his pocket and realized it when they were in line. The story was about our preacher trying to nonchalantly hide it in...
Lucky with my mom--she shot a bear in our camp when I was six (dad was already gone fishing)--kind of memorable for me. I've seen her shoot various varmints around the house and ranch. She and dad (and I when I got old enough) used to target and clay pigeon shoot for bragging rights and to see...
Qlajlu, thanks for posting this--you just asked what I've been meaning to for some time and never seemed to be able to remember to!
I have the exact same situation--I have a single action .22 blued 4" barrel with fake bone grips. The only identifying marks on it are on the left side of the...
Ah, heck, it's your mom. Just let it be water off a duck's back. Doesn't sound like either of you are going to be changing your mind soon. She's entitled to her opinion as you are. But, since she's your mom, don't go out of your way to set her off and just go about your business and do what...
No, I'm sick of not having all the guns that I'd like to tell people I had! :D
Frankly, no one knows how many guns I have. A couple close friends and some family members know a lot of what I have, but not everything! Other than my wife, it's nobody's business.
"Where you have guns, you have gangs." With that logic I can honestly say
"Where you have guns, you have Bibles."
"Where you have guns, you have a loving family."
"Where you have guns, you have law-abiding contributing members of society."
The above has been my, and my extended...
It's not Destin, but not too far are two great military museums--the USS Alabama is in Mobile, and at Pensacola is a very good air museum.
These are both BIG gun related!
