would that store happen to be on Wilkinson Blvd?

MY thoughts exactly-I lived up the road near the airport and went to Hyatts ONCE. There Prices Made me quake in my boots.
Now the gunshow On sunset blvd was Pretty good at the fair grnds

Interesting.

All I can say is that it's disturbing when the rest of the country is catching up to Northern VA gun prices.

This is why I state that the C&R license is worth its wait in gold. Not only do you save a boatload of FFL fees on C&R guns, you get treated as a dealer by the wholesalers online (SOG, Classicarms, AIMsurplus, etc.) and you can see what dealers pay for their guns (for the most part).

Next time you're in Charloote...Try Carolina Sporting Arms. They're just outside of the downtown area off of Tryon. Or at least I think so, it's been over ten years since I've been there last. Hyatt's always had the rep of being overpriced and overfull of BS.

Things change in over ten years.

A few months ago I went to both Hyatt and Carolina Sporting Arms (CSA), and requested a quote on a three gun "package deal". I told them I wasn't interested in haggling, and just wanted their "rock bottom" price.

Hyatt's price was one hundred dollars LESS than CSA.

Hyatt has over five thousand firearms in stock, and sells FAR more guns than CSA. Hyatt also has a tactical shop and better customer service.

Don't be fooled by the high sticker prices, which are only MSRP's. Hyatt will come down a good bit from the sticker price.

By the way, Carolina Sporting Arms is located on South Boulevard. If you drive down Tryon looking for them, you'll be driving for a LONG time. :D

I have always heard that Hyatt's was way overpriced as well, but I called to check the price on a Kimber Stainless UC in 9mm and they were as cheap as I could find on the net, even before shipping. The bad part about Hyatt's, to me, is the area of town and a good percentage of the clientel. I feel like I need to were kevlar on my way back to my car.

Ever try Doc's in Greenville?

Yeah, it has been too long but I was glad to leave Charlotte. I not surprised that things change just offering my 2 cents.:)

Iheartboost,

Now, I noticed that you're from Greenville. Have you ever tried Doc's? What's it like? I keep wanting to stop by sometime I making a run towards Washington. Is it worth the effort or should just keep rolling along?

Colissimo's in Philly - home of the $400 dollar Hi-Point, along with a zillion other guns that were way, way overpriced. Also, the store is rather dingy.

since it has happened that big oil can raise the prices today because of increases that are NOT EVEN on the boat yet--
and as there is soooo much in the news about the terrible raising costs of goods--
and since there are soooo many new shooters that have more $ than brains--
and since internet ASKING prices are soooo high--
local dealers seemingly have raised their prices to levels unrealistic to those who are knowledgeable.

i still look around on the weekends. if i find an item of interest and 'the boss' isnt easily available, i will ask for it to be put aside and return when the store is calmer. negotiating a realistic price ( often way below marked) has only once not happened.

I've been to Hyatt's and a lot of other shops in NC, and they are all overpriced. Even the shop just down the road, where I am kin, I have to haggle. Am I the only one who hates this? Just ask what you want for the thing and I buy it or I don't? I hate buying cars for that reason.

It seems as though all the gun shops in and around Charlotte are higher priced than elsewhere in the SE. I travel from KY to FL and they seem to be pricier here than most other places, although lately it appears like everyone's prices are climbing.

He definetly has some interesting guns for sale, definetly worth taking a look at if you are into collectable firearms. They have decent prices on some of his his modern pistols and WWI-WWII era guns. I just picked up a Type 99 rifle a few months back, he will move on his prices a bit.

It could be that the

...crime in Charlotte is creating big demand for guns, so these dealers figure they'll clean up on newbies who are worried about being robbed. Might want to thank your lawmakers for underfunding the penal system, so they just keep letting the thugs back out.

We're having similar problems down here in Columbia, and gun prices sure aren't going down.

I can agree with the 'crime in Charlotte'. That is why I moved south of the border. It seems that Mexican & other Central American gangs have chosen to make Charlotte their current place of abode. There are shootings almost daily and murders most every week.

I've got 2 stores that are within a mile of eachother, I think the competition keeps both of their prices low. Almost everything goes for a fair price/competitive with online.

@...Everyone?

Thats why I don't do markup. I order everything for anyone at cost and tack on a $20 transfer fee. I don't pay taxes to the state, make $20 guaranteed on each sale, no haggling and any customer gets THE BEST DEAL. Thats just how I run...

Ummm...Chris Plitt? I know you in real life. Ya might not want to state "I don't pay taxes to the state..." and use your real name and real hometown.
But, I dunno, that's just how I run...

Thankfully we have decent gun stores here. The one near my home CAN be slightly overpriced at times. But otherwise they have good prices and are really helpful.

The one a little farther away (about 10 min.) has a smaller selection but better prices. It also has a weird vibe to it since it is half gun shop half arts and crafts shop. There are shelves with shotgun shells and Yankee Candles next them, or holsters right next to iron on beads for making children's artwork.

The lady there is really friendly, though she doesn't know much about firearms as the other store. She also makes a great FFL.

I've been in there too many times to count, and never had a problem. They're only open during daylight hours, so just be alert and observant when moving from your car to the shop and back, and you'll be fine.

If you have a CC permit, you can carry concealed in the store, but you MUST keep it concealed the entire time you're in the store. If you take it out of concealment, you have to check it at the front of the store.

New gunshop charotte nc

Hi guys, we are Charlotte Gun and Transfers LLC. Pending ATF approval Charlotte Gun and Transfers will offer a solution to some of the problems with the gun shops in Charlotte NC. We are going to be offering a unique pricing and sales strategy. First off, I will be buying my guns from Davidson’s, here is the link http://www.galleryofguns.com All their guns come with a Lifetime repair or replacement policy. Pricing will be as follows: the cost of firearm and its shipping plus $35.00 or 10% which ever is greater. Simple pricing to guarantee a great deal on a new hand gun or long gun. The only exceptions will be Firearms that are on special . Even if you choose to sell a firearm through consignment this is our pricing if it sells ($35.00min or 10% of what firearm sells for). Our Firearm Transfer fee will be $35.00 for new guns from other gun shops or $30.00 for transfers of possession to a qualified individual for a used gun. Most of our business is done online, so check out our website at http://www.charlottegunandtransfers.com for location and product listings.

Hmm, "Bill's Gunshop & Range" in the twin cities(two locations)is right up there with the best(being worst)price gougers anywhere in America. Colts 6920s are going for $1700.00, Bushmasters last I checked were $1350.00, and even the truly junk ARs from ATI were fetching a $1,000! But hey, they'll throw in a free range pass(worth $20.00)with every gun you purchase(and they definitely don't move on price).
