I voted for the Smith. I've owned both and while the Beretta is a decent weapon the one I had went back to the factory twice since the trigger spring kept falling out. The 5906 has been 100%.

Dang it I'm may have to get a 327. That's about the 10th time someone has reported chrono readings like that. I really don't need another caliber to reload but that kind of speed out of a short barrel sure is tempting.
Heck you may be able to get both. you did say it was pawn shop. No way I'd pay their asking price. negotiate for both. If that doesn't work for both then get the HD.

I can only answer the skeet question as I don't hunt anymore. I use a 20" for skeet and am usually hitting more than my friends with their longer barrels. I don't see why a 20" wouldn't take care of you with all your hunting needs.
