My position was that MIM parts were being downgraded by some as inferior and made the weapons they occupied lesser in quality, which is bunk. I never said MIM was better, nor that they didn't make MIM parts because they were cheaper(they did), just that they(MIM) were as good as what they...
Without actually being there to experience, I would say it is possibly out-of-timing. My fathers' S&W mdl 28 did the same thing after years of shooting very hot reloads from a police officer friend. When I pointed out to him it had been doing that for years, instead of getting it fixed, he...
OMG!
When did I say MIM was better? Again, I'll save you the time..I DIDN'T! CFS!! I said it was NOT WORSE, and that you COULDN'T TELL THE DIFFERENCE(at least not in performance of the weapon). I'm sure you can get out your little magnifying glass and observe the difference in appearance...
I never said they were better, but give me an instance where they are worse and one can tell the difference? When have you ever seen something MIM break or cause problems? I'll save you the trouble, you don't but you'll never know the difference between the two. I, personally, base my opinions...
I understand the p&r as being "more desirable" then those that 'are not' part, and agree. That was/is perceived to be from a time when the craftsmen put extra attention to detail. It was stopped due to the realization it was unnecessary and improved assembly techniques could be utilized.
And the MIM is somehow a lesser grade then others, I suppose? I've heard this insinuated degradation from a few ppl regarding MIM parts, and I, personally, disagree. I'm glad you are happy with your new piece, but don't give it any concious/subcouncious doubt that it is not as good quality as...
I don't know bout the "pencil barrel" recommendation, but I know my 64-3 heavy barrel feels perfect in my hand, and shoots +p's all the live-long day. A police trade-in from Pittsburgh, it rarely was shot and is as new as you could want, just a few handling marks from the officer who carried it...
Springfield Loaded in SS
Mine, of course.:neener:
Paid $699 then added the buffalo bone grips from ebay for another $40. Shoots like a dream, feeds everything and is more accurate then I am right out of the box. Plus, it doesn't have that stupid billboard like on S&W or Taurus...
I had an XD 40 service model last year. Before it hit 1,000 rounds, the trigger spring broke. Cost me $25 for local gunsmith to fix it. Other then that it worked good. I didn't care for the caliber and thought it felt a bit top-heavy so I sold it to a work aquaintance who still has it, but...
In the few weeks I've owned mine, I would say I've put about 600 rounds through it. Out of those, my son had (1) stovepipe(probably limp-wristed it) using reloads. I also have a Lone Wolf aftermarket barrel that I use in it for the lead bullets I shoot through it. Overall, I highly recommend it...
XD's have been around for awhile, just under another name. It's amazing how nobody cared about them, reviewed them, or gave two ****'s about them until Springfield put their name on them, then all of a sudden they are "way better then a Glock".:barf::barf: Saps.
Maybe two months ago, give or take a week or so. Order was for 2k 200gr SWC's. Came to just under $150. I also called a few times, you know..the squeaky wheel?:o
bullets
I've ordered from Mike at mastercastbullets.com and he filled the order inside a month. Nice guy. I just tried betterbullets.com, and it took just over a week to receive 2k 200gr SWC's for my 45acp.
My S&W 686 came with Hogue monogrips and when I bought my S&W mdl 64, I immediately put Hogue monogrips on it as well. They may not look as perty as fancy wood, but for function, they are an excellent choice.
I've also got a 686-5 manufactured around that time, maybe earlier. Before it got sent back to S&W to fix a firing pin issue, it had a very good trigger to it in DA, in SA it was almost hair-trigger. Although I didn't ask for a trigger job, I suspect something was done as the DA is now...
