I've carried 3"-5" 1911's in Milt Sparks SS/SS2 and VM II holsters, over many decades. Never had a problem with hammer or grip safety digging into my side.

There is no denying that there are packs of ferals out attacking folks. The ethnicity of those involved can be gleaned quite readily on the internet.
I usually end up with at around $1,000 invested in a CCW piece, not counting leather. Over the decades that carry has been a Lightweight Commander, more often than not. I'm not a rich man, but will save my $ to afford quality equipment.
