I prefer an english stock for shooting our feathered friends. I like the position it puts me in, more comfortable. Or it could be that gun actually fits.

I have both. I like to shoot both. I have a indescribable love afair with my English SxS. It is almost sick, could be sick, probably very very sick.:(

Greetings all,
Been gone a while, dad diagnosed with cancer and had surgery, mom ended up in the ICU for a while, the family stuff is priority. Seems everyone is on the mend (keep my fingers crossed).
I am looking for an extra set or just the buttstock for a 1100 in 28ga. Does anything...
I would look for a nice English best gun. They can be had in the price range you mentioned. It can be a great shooter than will never depreciate and a fine piece of work to admire. PM me for a source I have that always has a few guns and usually has more coming (ATF forms in process). I have...
You are both correct. The 48AL will only feed from the mag if a round is fired. The first round must be hand loaded into the receiver and the bolt let go home. I thought this was unsusal at first but after having one for a few years I have become used to the routine.

Neither is better, just different. I have doubles (O/U & SxS), singles, pumps and semi auto's. I like them all, they just require a different technique and I use them for different shooting.

You must have had a bad one. I have a Franchi 48 AL and it rocks. I also had a shot at a O/U that was exceptional but more coin than I had at the time. I guess everyone lets one through once and a while. I would not hesitate to buy another.

Go buy a cheap fishing scale and make sure it is somewhat accurate at the supermarket with known weights (chicken, butter, etc.). Hook it on your trigger via string loop, coat hanger, whatever. Pull and watch the scale. See where it goes click at least three times in a row then average. This...
I don't believe that is a true statement. I believe it is the law of supply and demand. Once upon a time there was only 2 3/4" chamber length. There are more 2 3/4's than anything else. I also bet the same holds true for price increase in 3 and 3 1/2" shells. I would bet if you took a poll...
Breaking Clays
Dave - I would like a gander at the "Breaking Clays" book if possible. Let me know and I will shoot you my addy if you need it. I have moved.

Although I have not handled one the description sounds like my Franchi 48 AL. It has the bolt release on the left side. It May be the same but if so finding aftermarket stuff will be all but impossible. There are quite a few 48 AL's out there but no aftermarket stuff that I know of. Next...
There are 2 1/2 shells available if you know where to look. You can get hulls from Graf's without problem. The 2 1/2 Cheddites are less than the 2 3/4's.

Nothing like a fine English gun chambered in 2 1/2". Shoots like a 20ga but patterns better. At...
The wallyworld guns are old stock not imports. Mr. Wally probably bought a thousand or more at a time. I picked one up last Sunday; probably the last of the "new" 1300's you will see. Mine was priced at $243 and was a smokin' deal as far as I am concerned. The last of a breed. I am glad I...
$91 is just stupid cheap for an 1100. I would buy that in a heartbeat if it even looked like all the parts were there. You have shot the gun and know it functions, what more do you need?

What a great idea but she has already asked when we are going out to shoot "our" new shotgun. I guess there are much worse things than having I wife that likes to shoot.

I have a couple of O/U's and a SxS and I have never assembled any of them without pushing the lever to the right. My guns just don't like not doing that and I found resistance when trying the first time with my first O/U so I just don't. I am not sure if I would damage anything but I never...
T B L is right. It is much easier to treat a traumatic amputation than a burn. The amputation is a localized wound and the stump will usually seal off the bleeding in over 50% of the cases with a little help if you don't run out of blood first. No skin due to a burn injury is rough because...
