Thanks,I think I'm gonna go with a combo of Sanding it per Retiredusnchief and RCmodel. If I can ever get my wife to show me put photo's on the web I'll post them thank's alot.
I'm thinking of "Shining up " the stock on my old turk Mauser for something to do.More of a learning experience then anything. This past weekend at the Flea market a guy told me to use car wax,is that really feasible or would a polyurathene spray be better or is there anything out there made for...
I want to get a Long Eye Relief Scope for one of my Mausers. So far I have seen 2-7 x32 but was looking to get a 3-9x40.I have a 6-24x40 on my yugo but it sits up awful high and would like to get a lower sitting scope/mount combo for the old turk I have without spending a fortune on a gun I paid...
I would use the target bullets.I might get some raptors and let my father in law try them this year on deer, since he always get's a few.He hunts in more states then P.A. so he always get's at least two deer a year.I did call CEB about if they plan to make a .323 cal for reloading and they told...
Yes the ammo I've been shooting has the wax/grease ring around it.I noticed Hornady use's .308 cal for their 7.5x55,so I'll use them.I haven't pulled a bullet from the GP-11 Ammo I have.I just got my Swiss Magazine Loading Rifles 1869 to 1958 yesterday and am gonna start reading. Thanks for your...
After reading that thread it makes me wonder if shooting .308 bullets I plan on reloading are to big for the bore.I have heard conflicting accounts. Is 7.5 = 7.62? Will I somehow wear out the rifling?Should I just stick with the GP-11 ammo since all I do is target shoot for fun anymore?
I didn't know if anyone ever tried them.I was curious as to their performance I can't physically hunt anymore so all my info would be from shooting targets.
I recently came across an article on Ammoland's web site about a company here in P.A. called Cutting Edge Bullets and was wondering if anyone on this site has used them. They are a little pricey but I think I'm gonna give their Match/Tactical bullet's a try in .30 cal when I reload next.Look them...
I have read and heard about people hunting with FMJ steel core ammo.I have never used them for hunting when I use to hunt but I got into a little argument at Wal-Mart with a younger guy who kept insisting that since the Army uses them to kill people they are the best for killing game.After...
I have an old Polish M-44 Mosin that is my go to gun around the house, it kicks like a mule but is cheap ,cheap to shoot and more accurate then they are given credit for.I'd look into one, if not that an old Mauser, the next step would be the K-31 my absolute favorite milsurp rifle.
You would think that the company would have gotten their quality control issue under control as soon as it surfaced poor management in my opinion.Didn't Remington just get a contract for the AR type rifle?I hope they don't put out junk for our troops.
I've heard and read about the different kinds of rifling,Button,Hammer forged,Cut rifling. What makes the most accurate barrel?Or are they all about equal in that department?Or is it basically a matter of personal choice?
Thanks everyone. For your knowledge. One thing is I have the cardboard speed loader for my K-31 and I also got a box of ammo on stripper clips until the replies I got I figured the cardboard loader was all you could use until I looked at the grooves for the stripper clips that I thought was for...
I'm curious as to why the straight pull bolt action rifle never really caught on with the different military's and hunters.Since the K-31 is a fine gun and you had the Lee Navy 6mm and the Styer ect. They are faster for a follow up shot then the typical Bolt action. You would think before the...
strawHat,I like your taste.I have never shot anything that old but I would love to and was it the Kentucky rifle that replaced the Musket?I'm not very familiar with Civil war era to the 30-40 Krag.I've just never read about the time period for some reason.
I know all about "Mitchells" But I got for free and it is in pristine condition.I know it has no history behind it. I do have a K-98 Mauser and even an old turk mauser.
I would be happy as heck to find a good condition 30-40 Craig when I have the cash to spare.I never shot one but find it unique to me anyway.I gotta get my K-31 done first.
20+yrs ago I brought a Tec-9 that wouldn't cycle the 2nd. round.I took it back twice and finally told the guy I wanted a different gun and left with a marlin .444.The shop in New Castle,P.A. is closed now but they tried getting me to buy a chinese AK with a bent front sight also.
