I want to get a Long Eye Relief Scope for one of my Mausers. So far I have seen 2-7 x32 but was looking to get a 3-9x40.I have a 6-24x40 on my yugo but it sits up awful high and would like to get a lower sitting scope/mount combo for the old turk I have without spending a fortune on a gun I paid $70.00 for years ago.

The Burris 2.75x scout scopes are great for an inexpensive, quality optic.

Throw one of those on a XS Sight Systems scout mount, and you will be all set.

A Scout/LER setup is not great for higher magnification optics. The field of view is narrow enough on low power, and it just gets worse as you turn it up. Plus the eye relief changes quite a bit between powers. That is probably why you don't see a lot of scout scopes in the 3-9x range. Even with the variables, most people set them to one power that they like, mount it for correct eye relief, and don't fiddle with the power ring.

I agree with henschman, you don't want much magnification. I recommend a used Leupold m8 2x20. I have two, and they work very well. I just got my newer (to me) one for 150 off of ebay. Of course, me having one is not a reason for you to buy one, but it sure works on my mauser.
