I recently picked up a Kershaw Fraxion. I like it for it's very light weight, decent steel and reasonable price. It's also less than 3" which is important in some cities near me. It did not come Spyderco sharp but I made it sharp easily. It also rides a bit high in the pocket.
I think a...
From all of my research, I would choose 124g or 147g standard pressure HST. In gelatin (and therefor humans?) there isn't enough difference when you go to +P to make the added recoil worth it. Faster, accurate follow-up shots with the standard pressure is a bigger factor. 124g or 147g...
Thanks to everyone for your input. I have way too many hobbies as it is. I really can't add reloading right now.
I'm not worried about semi-auto function since this will actually be for a GP100. I should be getting it back from Clements in a month or two. My wife really liked shooting it...
If you use $1.50+ per round 45-70 gvt to vaporize chipmunks, you just may piss off Bigfoot for being so wasteful. Make sure you shout "Look out! He's coming right at us!" before shooting him just to CYA.
I enjoy shooting a bunch of different rounds but sometimes I just need to feel some recoil. At the end of some shooting trips I shoot an Alaskan full of very hot .454 Casulls. Sometimes I'll reload and shoot another six. Or I'll shoot some very hot and heavy .45-70 gvt out of my Guide Gun...
There are a lot of precision shooting competitions that use .22. Do they use off the shelf ammo or do they actually reload?
I am not looking to do it, just always been curious.
Check out Lucky Gunner's latest testing using 2" and 4" revolvers. I think is disproves this long standing opinion, at least regards to bullet performance. More recoil is a real thing though.
I've had this question for a while. I'll just ask it here since it's related, maybe?
Why does Xtreme make hollow points that are not designed to expand?
BrocLuno - Do they ship the Ray Vin uppers with 10 round mags? I only saw 14 rounders.
Thank you everyone for the info and links. The AR uppers you have linked look interesting. Any additional "tactical" type rifles out there?
In light of new firearms laws in California, I have been thinking outside the box lately.
Does anyone make a rimfire AR (or other semi) in a more powerful cartridge than .22LR such as .22 WMR? Maybe .17 HMR? Or something I'm not familar with?
The frist one I thought of was N82. i don't own one but hear they are comfortable and they have a model with one center clip.

Thanks CZ9shooter. I hadn't seen this before. I know just about every independant company (Fiocchi, Underwood, Freedom Munitions, HPR...even Winchester loads XTPs in a 17 HMR) uses XTP bullets, probably because this information is available.
The other commonly loaded JHP is Gold Dot. HAs...
Is there a listing somewhere that specifies the "minimum" velocity that popular handgun hollow points expand reliably? I know there are a lot of variables such as thickness of clothing, but I'm curious what exists as a reference.
Completely made up examples:
A 124 grain, 9mm XTP needs to be...
What are the problems with shooting shot in a rifled barrel? I figure shooting buckshot without a shot cup may cause leading but what about shot that is mostly contained in the wad?
Edit - I wish I new now to fix my typing in a title.
I was playing around with it and it has the same "density" as Red Dot. Each shell has 18 grains that fit almost perfectly in a 2.5cc scoop.
It will probably end up fertilizer.
I bought a box of 100 a while back. My gun hated them so I ended up opening them to make Lee slugs with the lead. I was just wondering if there is something useful to do with the powder. If I knew the powder I could maybe use it but not if I'm just guessing at what it is and the amount.
