I was hoping to find something used with a tripod for $200 - 300 . Looks like I'm going to need to save a fair bit more. I appreciate everyone's help. I've been looking on ksl.com (a local newspaper) and they have some spotting scopes there in my budget but I don't know if their worth spending...
I'm looking for a spotting scope that I can see my bullet holes clearly at 300 yards and hopefully further out. I imagine most of my shooting will be at 100 - 300 yards. I have a budget of $200 to $300 so i'm probably looking for a used scope. If anyone has any suggestions I'd apprediate it.
I recently bought 3 boxes of "LOT - 2043 - HXP - 77" Greek Powder and Cartridge 30.06 surplus ammo. I put 40 shells through my rifle and now I'm reading that most surplus ammo should be considered corrosive. I cleaned my rifle after shooting but I didn't use anything other than Tetra Gun Copper...
I talked to the gunsmith today and told him not to do anything other than remove the rust and clean it. Thanks to everyone for your sage advice. I am a novice in this sport and enjoy learning. Thanks again!
I spoke with a gunsmith that I was referred to by a trusted local gun shop owner. I've decided to have the gunsmith remove the rust, go through the action and clean and oil everything that's needed & "cold blue" the metal. He is going to check the bore and make sure it's in "good condition". I...
I assumed it was an "antique". I know what happens when one assumes.
Since it isn't old enough to be an antique there wouldn't be any loss in value by restoring (removing any rust) it?
I have recently inherited a WW2 Mauser K98 all matching numbers with the Nazi eagle holding a swastika. The stock is in good condition but the "butt stock (?)" has rust as does the bottom of the "receiver (?)" area and the end of the barrel, possibly inside the barrel as well. I don't intend on...
I was curious if anyone can tell me what kind of sidearm (if any) my grandfather would have carried as a Submarine Commander (?) during the end of World War 2. I'm trying to track it down? Thanks for any direction.
My mother had one of my guns in VA and has recently moved. She left my rifle and some other guns with my sister in VA. My sister doesn't want the guns in her house because of her young children. I would love my rifle and the other guns but I live in UT. I don't have the time to drive to VA to...
Great thread! I appreciate your help. I went into Gallenson's yesterday and tried one for myself & I was impressed. The pull is definitely better than my Taurus. Thanks Jim.
I wasn't clear. I have a Taurus which has a double action pull of about 14lbs. It's alot if you're trying to place shots accurately. I haven't fired the S&W 340 CT yet & I was trying to find what the trigger pull was on this revolver. I can't find it on S&W's site. Thanks for the advice on dry...
I'm considering a S&W 340 CT for my wife but i'm concerned about how tough the trigger pull is. I have a Taurus 627 Tracker and the pull on it is over 14lbs on double action, way too tough. Anyone have any experience with this revolver?
I didn't think this was the right spot to talk about a gun that I am selling but I haven't put up an add yet. So - I have a Taurus 627 Tracker Total Titanium. I've put approximately 200-300 rounds through it. It's in good condition but there is some buildup at the ports. I have the original box...
If I want to sell a handgun I bought 4 years ago - do I need an FFL to sell it to an individual if I live in Utah and sell it to someone who lives in Utah? What if they live outside of Utah?
