    Hunting ammo on turret press

Thanks for the link, Mk. Lennyjoe, what press do you like? Sparky, as much as I hate to say it, I think I'm with you. I don't get out to shoot enough so the most accurate ammo in the world would probably be wasted on me. You will be saving me some money though. Lol

    Hunting ammo on turret press

I have a Lee Classic Turret press that I've done a lot of loading on but at times the turret seems to have some play when using the press. It's not a lot but I didn't know how much play would make a difference. Would it be worth getting a cheaper single stage press for hunting ammo (308 & 270)...

    Remington 1100 upgrade

Thanks for the response. It does say Remington 1100 on the shotgun. I've messed with pistols and rifles but rarely shotguns. This thing is old but it's clean and pretty unused. The loading gate appears to be malfunctioning, it won't lift shells up as I work the action so it appears time to learn...

    Remington 1100 upgrade

I recently acquired an 1100. It has a wood stock and a 2 round magazine tube. Are these easily upgradable. I think it's pretty old and may have been used for hunting but it's unlikely I'd ever use it for that. I'd probably use it more for competition or home defense.

    TRS-25 dot not moving

I'm sure the answer is just to toss it and get something else but I just wanted to see if there is a way to fix it. This thing is a couple of years old, so out of warranty, but when I turn it on the dot can be seen in the bottom right corner of the glass. I turn the dials as far as I can either...

    Older Fort Knox safe

I have the chance to pick up a 1998 Fort Knox Protector 6031 and was wondering if the quality has gotten better, worse or stayed the same over the past 20 years. The safe appears to be in good shape and seems to have good specs. 7 gauge body with 1/4" outer door. It looks to have an inner steel...

    Hayman or Liberty?

    Hayman or Liberty?

So I'm in the market for a gun safe. There are two local safe/locksmith shops that are around here, thanks to a1abdj for the help finding one of them. One shop sells Liberty and the other sells AMSEC and Hayman. the AMSEC is out of my price range so that leaves me with either Liberty or...

    Good deal on Redding 3BR?

So I found a Redding 3BR locally that I was able to pickup for $85. It has some surface rust but appears to be in good working condition. How difficult would this be to clean up? Redding said to ship it to them and they would check it out but I don't know if it would be worth it to spend any...

    Minimum 9mm case length

I pulled the projectile, saved the powder and tossed the case. Thanks so much.

    Minimum 9mm case length

I just loaded up some 9mm and was putting a few through a Wilson case gauge. I noticed one of them being quite a bit shorter so I measured it. The short one was .715 for the length of the case. Most of the others were around .75. Is it safe to shoot the case that is .715 or should I just...

    CSB powder ID

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the responses. I thought I had the 5 but just wanted to verify. I'll start around 4 and work my way up.

    CSB powder ID

Maybe I'm over-thinking this and if I am just say so. I bought some surplus pistol powder at the local gun show a while back from a trusted source. It was sold as surplus and I was told to use Universal load data. The only information on the canister was a tag that said Surplus Pistol...

Thanks for all of the recommendations. It looks like i have some thinking to do.

    Looking for different powder measure

I have a Lee Classic Turret that came with the Pro auto-disk and that has been fine for pistol when using only one disk. If I want to load for 223 then I need to jump up to the dual disk setup but that seems to leak powder, same with the adjustable charge bar. Because of this I have to measure...

    9mm 124-grain +P ... so good?

Do a search for Proarms podcast, I believe the show was titled "What's your caliber" or something like that. They go through all the typical calibers and what has been found to be the best self defense rounds. These guys deal with law enforcement so I would think they know what they are talking...

    primed 5.56's

Had a chance to test fire some of these I pulled about nine cases and test fired with primer only. I am seeing what appears to be a crack in every neck after test firing. Could this just be from the chamber or barrel? Where I see the cracks on the outside, I'm not seeing anything on the...

    primed 5.56's

Thanks for all of the replies and advice. This is probably a dumb question but how loud would it be to fire off a primed only, no powder or projectile, 556 case? I'm an hour and a half drive from my nearest rifle range and didn't know if this would be something I could do in the house, like...

    primed 5.56's

Thanks for checking them out. I really appreciate it. As for where I got them, there is a guy in Middle TN that comes down my way and has all kinds of mil surplus stuff with really great deals. He was selling 1000 of these 5.56's for $100 and they are primed with CCI41's. I was having a hard...
