    Mauser bolt/firing pin issue

If I assemble the bolt properly (read: so the safety works) then the firing pin sticks out a bit, and binds on the round as the bolt is cycled. If I don't thread the firing pin / safety subgroup all the way in (or back it out one turn) then the action feeds properly, but the safety won't engage...

is it possible to recreate an obsolete bolt-action bolt?

This is more of a hypothetical question, but if one had an example (or perhaps an individual willing to take measurements from an example), would it be completely irrational to attempt to machine a bolt assembly for an obsolete gun? The specifics are these: I have a 20 Ga. Mossberg 185KB and...

    Old stock - looks "repaired"

M93 Mauser - not sure what happened, but figured I'd fish for some input. Just behind the bolt there is what looks to me like a repair or something made in the stock:

Model 93 Mauser - modified or not?

I'm trying to determine if my Mauser has been modified or not. Does the space between the front of the rear sight and the stock mean anything? Edit: I did a little research just now, and apparently this means that it's been rechambered for .308. Any concerns here? Any precautions to take?

identifying (and problems with) Mauser (?) bolt

I recently acquired a number of rifles from an old friend, and among them is what I think is a Mauser. It's fairly old, and shows signs of heavy use. The issue I'm having is with the safety - it won't engage. I've searched all kids of fixes for this, but the bolt in my hands doesn't match...

Mossberg 185 K-B bolt? (long shot)

I have an old 185 K-B that's missing the bolt and clip. I've tried havlinsales.com and gunpartscorp.com (Numrich) and the closest I've gotten is a stripped bolt from Numrich (they have mags listed too). I was told by a local gun shop that my best bet was to ask around online, so here I am...

thinking of sawing off an old Damascus Shotgun

I've got this old Janssen & Sons side-by-side with external hammers, and it's useless to me as a functional gun, and I'm not a "wall hanger" kind of guy. I am, however, a "conversation starter" kind of guy, so I was thinking of sawing this thing off. I've read that 18" is the minimum, but cut at...

    Got my Twister today...

...so now I can stop asking if anyone has one! THR member junkman_01 answered my mass PM in search of a Twister. He quoted me a price (which I won't mention, except to say that with shipping he asked less for his finished piece than Dixie currently has the kit listed at) and after nearly two...

    Classic Arms Twister pistol

I'm starting to sound like a broken record, I know. I was looking to buy one of these, but now I just wonder if anyone even has one!

    what happened to Classic Arms?

everyone I ask about buying one of their kits says that they "can't get a delivery date from the manufacturer." Did Classic Arms fold up? I'm really jonesing for a Twister kit (as my signature implies  )

Need help with a Damascus Shotgun

I need to take pictures of this thing. Its a double barrel with external hammers (the locks remind me of my dad's old flintlocks!). It has "BELGIUM FINE DAMASCUS" on top of the barrels and "JANSSEN SONS & CO" on the locks. There are various other (what I'm assuming are) proofing marks under the...

Should I have posted my WTB here?

I posted a WTB thread in the appropriate section, but it's for a C&B gun... should I have put it here?

Need advice - where / what to purchase

I'm planning my next C&B revolver purchase, and I'd like the opinion of the people (so to speak). So, where have you had good experiences with purchasing guns? Any particular model of gun you would suggest for the budding C&B enthusiast (I currently have a Pietta 1851 Navy)? Thanks for any...

    1851 Navy - short barrels

I've read the "Black powder snub nose" thread that BenB8290 started and I got to wondering... does anyone sell a bolt-on shorter barrel for my F. Llipietta? [side question: is "Pietta" just short for F. Llipietta?] I was thinking about trying to find a "stock" replacement one and just...

    new member to THR

I just signed up... surprised to see that the username 'sixshooter' wasn't taken! I got the nickname after I received my 1851 Navy from my dad for my birthday (can't remember which one... it was in high school) and that summer at our cottage I wore it on my belt the whole week we were there -...
