    Bushy or RRA

I've had a Bushy M4 for about a year now. 1100 rounds of surplus and not one, I mean not one malfunction of any kind. I have an Aimpoint mounted and have to say that this gun is my favorite of all I have. I own a restaurant, and once a year a few of us get together to shoot wine bottles...

    My very first C & R rifle...

Cool looking rifle. I'd be happy with that purchase.

    High Five to Zak

Greetings, I'm a long time reader of THR, and seldom post. For the past 6-8 months I've been researching precision rifles and have learned a lot, here and other places on the net. I'm getting ready to make a purchase and one of the problems I have is that I live in a small town and don't...

Need a real left handed 1911

I'm a lefty and have absolutely NO trouble with a 1911. If you have an ambi safety, I see no reason to look for a left handed gun. Gotta a ar15 too....standard setup. Works great. Jzz

Finding out about your criminal record

This is an easy one. Go to one of the internet background check sites, pay your 12.95 by credit card and have them do a search. I own a restaurant and from time to time use an internet service to do a background check. It takes about two minutes, and seems to be pretty reliable. I use...

    FL Paper Publishes CCW List

Thanks for posting that. I just sent the editor an email, (not an angry one) letting him know that I felt it was an irresponsible bit of journalism. jzzmusician

    What would you do?

Freaky situation. I own a restaurant and have had a number of people whose "elevator doesn't go to the top" come in here and occaisionally create a moderate disturbance. I always have a phone with me. At home, and at work it's a cordless phone. I talk to the guy. If they don't leave...

Over and Under vs Side by Side for trap? Why so many O/U?

I always found an o/u much easier to shoot than a side by side. Shooting with both eyes open, you can see a lot more with only one sight plane. When I was shooting trap I shot everything but ended up with o/u. They just worked better for me. jzz

Are Les Baer, Wilson, and Ed Brown pistols worth the money?

You're asking good questions, and people more knowledgeable than me are going to, and have answered the technical questions. Ever bought a really good pair of boots? I mean *really* good? Remember how you felt when you wore them? I remember the first time I ever had a really great pair...

Help! I need a pocket gun!

I'm in the same boat you are. I'm leaning toward a Rohrbaugh 9mm. Small (tiny actually) 7 shots and easy to break down. Buy an extra mag and save your pennies. They're spendy. jzz

Just shot a RRA AR 14 -- very frustrating!

Chris and jem, you guys have really made my day. Thanks! jzz

Just shot a RRA AR 14 -- very frustrating!

Just got back from the range. Shot my Kimber a lot, my friends Glock and had a great time. Shot my first rifle too. A guy there was testing out some handloads with his Remington 300 Win mag. He competes in long range shooting and let me "have a go" with his rifle at 100 yards. The trigger...

    Books for CCW holders

In addition to reading books, (which are invaluable) I would also highly recommend taking a self defense class. I took a 2 1/2 day course and while not exhaustive, taught me a lot about the responsibility one has when carrying a lethal weapon. It also provided strong fundamental safety and...

    Ammo question

Being a newbie, here's an incredibly basic question: Isn't 230 gr ammo hotter than 185? And why 185 for defensive rounds? thanks, Jzz
