I am in the market for a short AR and was hoping to find some pro's and con's before buying.
I like the looks of the RRA Entry Tactical and I know Bushmaster offers a comparable rifle.
Can anyone tell me why I should consider one over the other? I know folks have their preferences, but I was hoping for more than "I love RRA" type responses. My concerns are accuracy, reliabilty, warranty, cost and true value.

If there is a thread that addresses this question already, please point me to it.

Thanks to all.

Sorry, that I don't have any hard facts for you as I think both will serve you well.

However, I do think the RRA stuff feels more solid. Bushmaster isn't bad, and might be a better value. If they were the same price I would go RRA's for sure.

I haven't seen them for the same price. My impression of Bushies is that they're fine rifles, but they tack on a couple hundred bucks for the logo, like Beretta.

RRA's are nice guns.

Chrome Lined bore on the Bushmaster on all but DCM and Varminter. 5.56 Chamber.
RRA offers Chrome Lined bore as an option $. RRA uses 223 Wylde Chamber.

Both chambers will digest whatever you put in them.

The life of the Chrome lined barrel could be up to twice that of a non-chrome lined.

I have been a loyal Bushmaster shooter almost since they started. My preference.

One thing that RRA offers that I don't think Bushmaster does is a mid-length handguard and gas system with the 16" barrel, which supposedly offers better cycling reliability than an M4-length system. Since you can't go shorter than 16" barrel/flash suppressor length anyway, I'd rather have the longer sight radius and better reliability.

I'm looking very hard at an RRA Elite CAR A4 for that reason, and am saving my pennies.

Add $40 for a chrome-lined barrel, $50 for a Vortex suppressor instead of the A2 style, and $10 for a winter triggerguard, and you'd have my dream rifle...

(Anybody want to buy a mini-14 Ranch Rifle? :D )

Get ya a stag arms lower(they supposedly make rock rivers) and get the midlength rra upper.I bought a stag upper and lower, but really wish I would have bought the rra midlenght upper, although the stag was very accurate and trouble free when I shot it for the first time last week.

I've got both and I'd say you'll be happy with either. For my next one I"m considering using a stripped lower and the RRA "Kit". You end up with a 16 inch RRA with their excellent 2 stage NM trigger. I think rbprecision has them for $630 .. .throw in the $125 stripped RRA lower I've got in the safe and you're in a really nice chrome-lined RRA with 2 stage trigger for $755.

Just my .02

Regards,
Dave

I've had a Bushmaster and now have a RRA. Couldn't tell the difference between them at all except for the name stamped on it and the feature each came with.

I've had a Bushy M4 for about a year now. 1100 rounds of surplus and not one, I mean not one malfunction of any kind. I have an Aimpoint mounted and have to say that this gun is my favorite of all I have.

I own a restaurant, and once a year a few of us get together to shoot wine bottles. We had 20 cases last year, this year we'll have about 35. The M4 is the weapon of choice. More fun than you can believe. Wine bottles at 100 yards falling like the crap they show on tv.

I am more than happy with the Bushy, and would probably be the same with the RAA.

I have a Bushmaster Dissipator and a RRA midlength chrome lined upper on a Bushmaster lower. I would say the quality is comparable between the two. Both have performed well but, I have a lot more rounds through the Dissipator.
Instead of buying a complete rifle I would recommend buying a lower and upper separately and saving some money. Of course you would not have a warranty from the manufacturer if you did it that way.
Check www.eaglefirearms.net for some good prices. That is where I bought my RRA upper.

I build a RRA Tactical Entry off a CMMG lower, NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM, she runs so smooth and I shoot her with just a bit of clp on the bolt, not the carrier, just the bolt. She's accurate too, I've had her out on the range and put rounds on target at 600 yards! I also have a National Match RRA on a CMMG lower that holds Sub-MOA at 1000yrds.

Bushmaster is a good brand as well, like many have said, 'you'll be happy with either one'.

I laugh my butt off at the; Model 1, DPMS and other cheaper brands; that some people buy and then have to, 'help' to work properly. You're heading in the right dirrection, quality weapons aren't cheap, but I'll trade a bit of money for a 100% reliable weapon.

IMO RRA's are very good rifles - Stag Arms does not make them - LAR makes the lower. However I think you should consider the Stag Arms and DPMS rifles - DPMS may be the best value going right now and has excellent service. Bushmaster was recently bought by a large investment company. Stag Arms is a high quality rifle and rivals the RRA's in price and quality. Armalite is on the fringe of AR market with good and expensive rifles.

I cant say anything about rra bacause I well dont have one;) hahah but I did just buy a m4 bushy! man that thing rocks. It by far will be my favorite gun, I cant get enough of the thing:)

i faced this decision when buying an upper recently. i went with bushy just because it's more readily available to me. in my opinion, it's like buying a glock or an xd. in the end they'll both serve you well enough the rest is just being a bit picky:what:

::snicker::
