The FAL wasn't around till the 50's. WW2 ended in 1945.

    Revolver newbie questions

    2. Because a double action doesn't take 2 minutes to reload through a loading gate. You just swing open the cylinder and dump all off the cartridges out and put in new ones 3. Ruger, Berretta, Navy arms,Uberti, and more companies than I can think of right now make them still. Ruger just came...

For pure shooting fun, what would you choose...

Not even a second thought....get the AR, get one from someone you can trust to be a good one. Very fun to shoot, very accurate, and 223 is EVERYWHERE. After that you can indulge in different uppers for various cailbers.

NEW LARGER Favorite WWII rifle poll!

Nice poll :p I vote for the Ljungman. I had a Hakim,it rocked! I actually would much rather shoot that than my Garand.

Fixed! Tour favorite WWII battle rifle(poll)

As much as I love Garands, I love the Enfield more. Too my way of thinking, it's more rugged. I've seen and shot, and owned my share of both. Faster than any other bolt action, carrys twice the capacity of other bolt guns ( two more than the M1, and my Ishapore 308 carries 12 :D ), less to go...

just how durable is a AA maglite?

Try something with LED's (Light Emitting Diode) in the light instead of a traditional bulb. LED are much tougher, and have a normal life of like 11 YEARS. LED lights

    Anyone Relate To This?

Take the tip of your nose put it on the corner( left side for me) of the charging handle when you shoot. It easier to get the exact same sight picture every time if you do that.

    A few questions.

Consider getting an Ishapore Enfield. They are already in 308, carry a 12 round magazine, and are MUCH faster to shoot than any Mauser. If you don't want to do the conversion, you could even get a Gibb's No.7 carbine and then scope it. Done deal. I bought mine a few years ago, paid $200 for it...

    Old Revolver Suggestions...

The S&W Model 27 was available in 1935. The S&W 38/44 Heavy Duty was availabe in 1930. The J-frame chief special snubbie was avialbe in 1950. The Colt Detective Special was an American DA/SA revolver first produced in 1927 as a shortened version of the Police Positive Special handgun.

    Revolvers and cylinder capacity?

The 686 has been available for years as a 6-shot. I had the 686+ 7-shot, it's exactly the same size. That may not be true across the board though.

Just bought a new Enfield - What kind of accuracy can I expect?

I would expect at around 2 or 3 MOA or so. There are things you can do to accurize the Lee-Enfield. If you want to tinker with it, you can adjust the trigger pull ( or have someone you trust to do it, if you aren't sure of your skill.) Also you can epoxy bed the stock ( which may not be all that...

    Thinking about joining the Marines...

Alot of how fast you advance will depend on your MOS ( your job). The USMC is a very small force compared to the US Army. Advancement can take a VERY long time. I'm not bashing the Corps just making an observation. I've seen guys in the Infantry make E-5 in two years. My brother in law was...

    .45 Carbine

If you own a 1911 or Glock, you could do a Mech-tech carbine conversion. Assume you do not live in the PRK ( People's Republik of California ) Pistol to rifle conversion

    My Custom GP100 (pics)

That is one of the nicest Ruger's I've ever seen. Make sure to give a range report after you shoot it.

    Birthday Present To Self

To me the Ruger just doesn't have the silky smooth action that I've come to know and love. Once properly broken in, IMO their is no substitute for a nice L or N frame Smith. A nice set of rubber grips is what I prefer ( Hogue or Pachmayr) but whatever fits your hand properly. I've shot...
