i ended up just bending the sheet metal part of the latch just far enough for it to stay shut. works great now.

this is a pic off the net. the latch that holds the top down is the plastic piece at the rear of the bolt and spring assembly

I'll try to get some pics up. the latch is connected at the back of recoil spring. im thinking when the bolt slams forward the spring compresses just enough to let the top open up. maybe a new recoil spring might help?

im well aware of reliability issues with this gun. i polished the hammer and found good mags that work great. the only problem i have is the top cover opening at random times when shooting it. if i hold it down with my other hand it runs no problem. is there anyting i can do short of duct taping...

i used a long barrel wingmaster for HD for a while. never felt it was a problem. now i use a 18.5 inch smooth bore mossberg 500 that doubles as a slug gun

i like the birdhead grip and im about to get one soon. but ive had two mossbergs that came with the strap on thing and i ended up just taking them off

i was just seeing if anyone else enjoys collecting them as much as i do. i agree they are not much useful today but more of a weapon from a by gone era

i would never use them but i enjoy collecting them. Id like to have a wwi trench kinfe and maybe a pair from the civil war

i have the same gun. 55gr pmc cycles all day in it all day. even when its dirty. i would take it to a gunsmith or ruger

I have a mini 14 and a case of pmc 55gr fmj for target shooting but I'm wondering what would be best for defensive use. I have picked up a few boxes of hornady vmax but was wondering what everyone else uses. Thanks
