I sure do miss Gentleman Of The Charcoal also.
He has a way of making you feel like your in his kitchen having
a cup of coffee while looking at a Colt cap and ball.
I leave the cylinder in my c&b's while loading.
I pour the powder in chamber, then I put a felt wad in and leave it towards the top of chamber. On some sunny days you can't see the powder in the chamber and run the risk of a double load or skipping a chamber so that's why I leave the...
Here in Indiana I received one email reply from Senator Sue Landske stating she will support nothing that goes against the 2nd Amendment.
I have to say it made me feel pretty good to receive that reply.
Thank you Senator and thank you Ruger.
I have a Pietta 1858 NMA that I bought at Cabelas about a year and a half ago. I have fired about 800 rounds through her. No issue's. It's still hard to believe that a firearm of this quality could be purchased for $170 in 2011-2012.
This thread, though excellent and informative still has me concerned and all of a sudden worried. I apologize for not being able to comprehend some of these well thought out and educated post's.
While in my home during the cold dry winter months, is it risky to pour powder from the Goex can...
Thanks splattergun & Jim,
Jim, I bought the ball bag at a rendezvous in the 1980's so I can't tell you who made it. It was made by an individual not a company. It's very well made and it always amazes me how a damp cloth cleans it up.
Another option is Gorilla Grease which comes in a little tub and can be applied with the end of a small screwdriver or toothpick. It's in a paste - like form and will last along time. I've been using it for years and the nipples come out easy every time I clean my cap and ball revolvers. Gorilla...

Rest assured that the majority of your viewers have nothing but respect for your passion and enthusiasm. Also appreciation for the time and effort you put into your video's.
I'm certain you've put many more smiles on viewers faces than frown's.
Stay as you are and keep those...
I agree with Bartholomew Roberts.
If the NRA suddenly disappeared - I believe gun owners would then see how important and needed the NRA was.
This long time gun owner is most grateful for the National Rifle Association.
Regarding returns.
Toolslinger,
Just called Cabela's Information line and asked if they accept returns on their cap and ball revolvers whether purchased over the phone or on-line.
They said "of course".
My Pietta Remington NMA(from Cabela's) works great with a .454 and shave's a nice ring. BTW I've got about 500-600 rounds through my 8" model and I have no complaints with her.
faustopph,
Been awhile since I heard of the fingernail polish method. I locktited it yesterday since I had some blue on hand anyway, only bad thing now is I have to wait till Saturday to see if that does the trick. Pretty sure it will.
I really appreciate everyone's suggestions and input.
As...
Hey RaceM,
I'll probably try the .457's since mykeal and sharps59 have my curiosity up.
Yesterday was the first time out with this recently purchased revolver. I had read where some owners were shooting .451's so I went to the range with .451's and .454's in hand. Started with .451 and...
