    LCRx .22 LR question

Further investigation with a wipe-away cloth reveals it is a bit of build-up. I'll keep an eye on it, but probably won't worry about it anymore.

    LCRx .22 LR question

Today I fired my new LCRx .22 for the first time. No problems with 150 rds., and I was pleasantly surprised with the trigger. The question is that there is an area on the top strap inside of the cylinder frame that has worn shiny. From where it is it seems it was from the cylinder contacting...

    first handgun purchase

I've had a Remington R1 Enhanced for a few weeks, and it has been 100% reliable with various factory loads and reloads. Based on that experience, I just purchased an R1 Stainless, and the first 150 rounds ran through it 100%. Both are more accurate than I am.

    Best Copper Remover

Another vote for Wipe Out. I fired 45 rounds through a 7mm Rem, Mag. Saturday, and after three applications the bore was free of fouling.

    Ruger Mk II Question

A 1999 vintage 7mm Rem. Mag. stainless MkII came into our family a few months ago. It had a factory laminated stock that was cracked. We replaced it with a Hogue Overmolded Pillar Bedding stock, which fit the action well but was too short for me. I bought a Ruger synthetic stock from eBay...

    Speedloaders with Ruger Alaskans?

The speedloaders for the "N" frame S&W revolvers will work for the same calibers in the Redhawk or the Super Redhawk.

Herrett's Trooper, finger grooved or not?

I only have experience with the smooth version of the Trooper grip. I have three pairs. My first set of Troopers was for a 4" Security Six with the old frame style. I love them. They look a bit large, but the feel is excellent. I have another pair on a 6" S&W 629 which are perfectly...

    SP101 custom/aftermrket grips

This is very much a matter of personal preference. I tried the Pachmayrs and the Hogue rubber grips, and I did not like either. I now have Hogue wood grips on my SP-101, and I am completely satisfied with them.

Suggestions for something in .45 long colt.

If you want a double action revolver, something similar to the Model 10, look for one of the S&W 625's, or a S&W 25. Also available as a double action .45 Colt is the Ruger Redhawk. I have one, and after some tweaking and firing a few hundred rounds for break-in it does fine. These will take...

    4" .45 Colt Redhawk

I have large hands ( XL glove size) and the Pachmayrs are fine for me. Today, however, I tried the 4" Redhawk with factory wood grips, and I plan to leave them on the gun for the time being. They seemed better to me for D/A, and were fine for loads up to a 300 grain bullet at 1000 fps. For...

    Bill Jordan and Skeeter Skelton

"....the time Bill Jordan visited Skeeter Skelton, and the story was (IIRC), that he left in the middle of the night with a half a lemon chiffon pie, some whiskey and a handgun (maybe a ruger single action)..." It was a S&W Model 19. Jordan left his with Skeeter for Skeeter to give it an action...

Any news on the pending Ruger Black Hawk in .44 spl.

The .44/40 originally used a .427 bullet. Bullets in this diameter are still available.

    Bill Jordan and Skeeter Skelton

Skelton and Jordan and Keith are still the best, in my opinion. They covered a lot of aspects of shooting very well. Taffin is my favorite living writer, but I would like to see more from him on self defense and related topics.

    4" .45 Colt Redhawk

I've had my .45 Colt 4" Redhawk for a month or so, and after a couple of enhancements I am pleased with it. Mine came from the factory with a 9# trigger pull on S/A. After four hundred rounds and some polishing it's now at 5# and is reasonably crisp. D/A pull is now around 9#. The spring is...

    Ruger 44 mag advice

The 7 1/2" will have less apparent recoil. This is because it weighs more, has less muzzle blast, and also has a slightly bigger grip. The 4 5/8" is handier, even compared to the 5 1/2". It also has a rounded trigger guard, while the 7 1/2" has a squared trigger guard. I don't have a...

    .44 Alaskan Binding

A couple of months ago I gave up on correcting this myself, and returned the gun to Ruger. My revolver came back from Ruger Monday, and I fired it today. All is well. Function is 100% with various loads, both jacketed and cast, and both mid-range and full power. I had modified the...

    Herrett Jordan Trooper grips

They feel and work great for me, and I do have large hands. I have them on a 629 and a security Six, and have a set on order for my .500 S&W.

My first reloads in .500 S&W

I wrote S&W's Customer Support Department about the problem with the grip, and I am not impressed with their reply. "im sorry that is the first i have heard of that happening i dont have a solution at this time thank you"

    Ruger Security-six grip ?

There are two grips styles with the Security Six series, and they are not interchangeable. Any gun with a serial number pre-fix of 150-, and the earlier ones with a 151-prefix have the different style grip. grips for these older models can be found, but the ones at CDNN, etc. are for the...
