    S&W 686 Plus

If your B/C gap is narrower than .005", don't use Sellier and Bellot FMJ ammo. My new 686P had a problem with seizing up after four cylinders of shooting. I tried PMC Bronze tonight and it didn't have a hiccup. That S&B ammo is dirty.

Thank you very much for the feedback guys.

    New S&W 686P Binding

I looked up the caliper or thickness of standard 20-pound bond typing paper. Apparently it ranges from .0038 to .0045". I then cut out a strip the same width as the forcing cone. I was able to feed the strip through the gap. It was touching both sides -- the cone and cylinder. But it fed...

    New S&W 686P Binding

So you'd send it back even if it's reliable cold and more accurate as is? (Without the ream job) Would I be a fool to hang on to it and hope natural frame expansion and end shake through wear fixes it?

    New S&W 686P Binding

Crap. Honestly that hairline gap sort of just disappears when I push the cylinder forward. Ugh... Shouldn't this be something they QC before it leaves the factory!?!? Ugh...

    New S&W 686P Binding

I purchased a new Smith and Wesson 686 Plus (4-inch barrel) a few weeks ago. The action is like butter. The trigger is perfect in SA or DA. When dry firing in either mode, it's absolutely perfect. Sadly, its first range visit was disappointing. The first cylinder of 7 rounds was perfect and I...

    Sig 938 owners

Maiden voyage tonight. 80 rounds. Functioned flawlessly. Not a single hickup. UMC 115 gr and Winchester Ranger 147 gr. Smooth shooter. That recoil spring does its job.

I purchased the P938 Extreme just a few days ago from my FFL. I'm looking forward to shooting it tomorrow night. It's a new gun, DOB Aug 30 2014, but it was pretty dirty from the factory test shots. I like the grip better with the flush six-round mag. I received my Desantis Nemesis pocket...

    The amazing 357 magnum

Over the years I've heard and read several comments from respected authorities that the .357 Mag is the gold standard in terms of personal defense ballistics when it comes to maximizing hydrastatic shock (energy dump) without over-penetration or exiting the target. With the modern bullet design...

What do you consider to be the ultimate fighting revolver

The .327 in an eight-shot configuration is intriguing. This makes sense.

    Help me understand J-frames

As you've learned by now, the S&W 642 is the comparable model. However, I highly recommend that you test fire both before making a decision. My father-in-law has the 642. It's light, compact, and very reliable -- heck, it's a Smith. BUT, it hurts to shoot. You may dismiss that on account of the...

What do you consider to be the ultimate fighting revolver

I think your LCR is the best revolver for civillian EDC purposes, but I'd have to go with the S&W 686 Plus or the Ruger GP .357 for home defense. I have an LCR in the .38 it might be my all-time favorite. The .357 was just too much recoil and noise for me. And the new Gold Dot .38 Spcl +P Short...

Ruger LCR: Torque Wrench; Torx Screws

High Roaders: This is intended to serve as a humble supplemental reference point for new or prospective Ruger LCR owners who, like me, may find the owner's manual a bit vague, and other online reference material sparse, with regard to Ruger's recommended use of an inch/lb torque wrench for...

Glock Gen 4 Loaded Chamber Indicator = Holster Incompatible

Great minds think alike. That's what I'm planning to do as a less time consuming and frustrating alternative to calling Itac and arranging a return etc... I'm going to put a gob of copper anti-seize grease on the LCI protrusion on the extractor, when the weapon is not "hot," and insert the gun...

Glock Gen 4 Loaded Chamber Indicator = Holster Incompatible

It's not one Itac holster. It's two Itac holsters. One for the Glock 27 and one for the Glock 19. In each instance, the LCI prevents insertion of the gun hot with the LCI protrusion.

Glock Gen 4 Loaded Chamber Indicator = Holster Incompatible

You can't imagine it? Really? It's actually a pretty common concern for fitted kydex holsters. And in the case of this Itac holster, the loaded/hot weapon doesn't holster with the LCI protrusion. I'm starting to doubt that any of those who've responded thus far have a Gen 4 Glock or an Itac Roto...

Glock Gen 4 Loaded Chamber Indicator = Holster Incompatible

I ordered Itac Roto Paddle retention holsters for my wife and I last week. She has a 19 and I have a 27. I ordered after watching several favorable YouTube video reviews and seeing my father-in-laws firsthand. Last night for the first time I attempted to holster the pistols loaded and hot into...
