In my experience 30-30 performs better than 308 on deer, but I prefer using 308 rifles. Do they make a 308 round that looks like and performs like a 30-30 round with the flat head?
I came across this article http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/370733/manufacturers-change-look-ar-15-rifle-now-legal-new-york-state-charles-c-w-cooke that they now have NY state legal ar-15's. Does anyone know who makes these? I am wondering if they are made by reliable companies like smith...
I saw the video where the Indiana firefighter shoots his neighbor 4 times in the chest and he lived and even walked away. Does anyone know what kind of caliber gun or ammo he used? It didn't seem very effective and I want to avoid it.
The 308 has more power then then 30-30 but they use the same grain bullet. So how come all the youtube videos I have seen of deer getting shot with a 30-30 they almost always drop on the spot like they got hit by lighting, but the 308 videos they usually run 30 feet or more before they drop...
If I want to try out a new caliber or gun and buy a used gun and am not happy with it, how much money would I lose if I sell it back to the shop I bought it or another shop? How much do gun shops usually mark up used guns from what they give the sellers?
Is there anyway to measure the distance between me and a target without a laser rangefinder? Guns like the mosin have a rear sight that goes all the way out to 2000 yards how did they measure how many yards there target was back then?
A lot of rifles like the ak47, M16, and many military bolt action rifles from world war 1 and 2 have iron sights that can be easily adjusted to pre set ranges like 100 yards, 300 yards, 500 yards ect. to accommodate for bullet drop. Has anyone made any scopes or red dot sights that you can...
I have seen lots of pictures of both the ukraine army and the rebels both with this strange wrapping around the stocks of their rifles. Anyone know what it is and the purpose of it? Here are a couple pictures:
I am 6'3 and the 22 semi auto rifles I have tried at the gun shop are ridiculously small on me and would be uncomfortable to shoot. Do they make any 22 semi auto rifles that are full sized.
If you put blackpowder and smokeless powder side by side and burn them the blackpowder burns much faster. However blackpowder has less recoil than smokeless. I called Remington who said there low recoil shotgun shells such as these...
I want to reload shotgun shells to shoot like the "reduced recoil" loads. I called Remington who said they use a slower burning powder. So what kind of powder should I use?

My understanding is it is the potassium chloride salts in black powder that corrode metal. I made up some concentrated salt solutions and poured them on glass and let it dry so the salt crystallized. I then wiped it down with a rag with rubbing alcohol ( 70% isopropyl alcohol) and it got it...
I had some fiocchi shotgun ammo that I left in my car for about 2 years that I fired today, the smoke had a strong sulfur smell. I don't know if that is normal with fiocchi because I have never fired fiocchi before. Other ammo I shoot usually Remington or Federal does not smell like sulfur...

I send my shotgun for repair and they sent it back with a thick coat of grease including on the wood stock, I think I remember reading somewhere that naphtha was safe on wood, is that correct? I need something that will dissolve thick grease but wont harm the finish.
These recoil tables says a 410 shotgun has 7.1-10.5 foot-pounds of recoil energy. But a 223 round only has 2.6-3.9 foot-pounds of energy. I have never fired a 223 rifle But from looking at YouTube videos of people firing Them It looks like a 223 ar-15 kicks more than 410. How do you explain...
