    XM16E1 users in Vietnam 1966-67

I am looking for first person experiences with the malfunctions experienced in Vietnam when the XM16E1 was introduced. A good friend of mine who was there at the time is documenting the situation, and I am seeking contacts for him. If you have such an experience and would care to share it...

    777 pellet life

i use a .50 cal inline during muzzleloader season, and don't shoot it any other time. I bought two boxes of 777 pellets about ten years ago, which have over the years been condensed down into one box. The pellets are stored inside the house. I had not shot it for three or four years before...

    Out of spec ammo

I picked up a new 9 mm pistol last weekend and was running some Winchester White Box 115 grain FMJ thru it to get acquainted. One round caused a stoppage. The slide would not close, it was open maybe a tenth of an inch. Completely out of battery. I tried loading it in a couple of subsequent...

    Beretta 92fs shoots low

I recently acquired a Beretta 92FS Police Special. With Speer and WWB 155 gr hardball, it consistently shoots about 6 to 8 inches low at 25 yards. This seems huge to me, and I don't have this with any other 9mm that I own or have shot. Any ideas on what may be causing this? Thanks. RBH

I heard an unsubstantiated rumor today that beginning next year, Indiana will allow rifles shooting pistol-class cartridges to be used for deer hunting. Can anybody substantiate that? RBH

    Alaskan Guide Gun Question

I'm considering a move to Alaska, and need to get gunned up (and the wife agrees!!) :D It looks to me like the Alaskan Guide in .457 WWMagnum-45-70 from Wild West Guns would be a reasonable choice. Does anyone have any experience with shooting .45-70s in that rifle? Wondering about...

Omega .50 cal load - finally!

I bought a T/C Omega a couple of years ago, and have been searching for the mythical MOA load ever since. And, I might add, with disappointing results. I've tried conicals, Powerbelts, and a variety of sabot loads. None of these worked out very well for me as far as accuracy goes. I was able...

    Coach gun: Stoeger vs. Remington

My wife is asking for a coach gun for personal defense. I think something with internal hammers would be best, and probably a 20 gauge. That seems to narrow it down to the Stoeger and the Remington (Russian made Spartan). The prices are about the same, so cost isn't really an issue. Quality...

Southern Indiana Rifle & Pistol Club

I just found out a few days ago that for the last two years I've been living a couple of miles from the indoor pistol range of the SIR&PC, and just a little farther from their 500 yd outdoor rifle range. Anybody here shoot there? I'd like to join, and I think I need a sponser...

    This year's deer

After spending two months doing recovery work in NOLA, I made it back home in time for the last week of Indiana's firearms season. My son was drawn for the lottery at Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge, and selected me as his partner. I was able to harvest a nice buck on the first day. Then, a...

    Mossberg 600AT

I just picked up a used 600AT at a pawnshop. 12 gauge, 24" slug barrel, $130. Seems like an okay price. Dirtiest firearm I've ever seen, but cleaned up nicely. I'm somewhat familiar with 500s and less so with 590s. This seems a lot like a 500. I'm not finding much info on 600ATs...

    Remington 700

Just picked up a used, but excellent Model 700 in .30/06. S.N. is B6661XXX. Plain wood (i.e., no foreend cap or grip cap, no white line spacer at the hard rubber buttpad). Just they way I like 'em. Can anyone help with determining the age? It seems to be pretty new. Thanks. RBH

    329PD range report

Stopped by Popguns today and discovered a clearance sale! The 329PD that I've been admiring from a distance was marked down $100 to $599. Needless to say, I'm now the new owner. Put 50 rounds of mag thru it, and about 1/2 of a box of .44 specials. Only shot with the wood grips. When I...
