    Book for S&W revolver fans

Thanks for the referral, sounds interesting. And (I hope you don't mind my adding this to your thread) in the latest issue of DILLON's Blue Press there is a very nice, albeit short, article on S&W's historian, Roy Jinks. Some interesting backstory and some lovely gun porn. Apologies if this...

Who's got a Ruger Security Six

My Security Six shown with its GP relative. Primarily shoot target loads at 50 yds. and never had an issue with either gun after thousands of rounds. These are two of 'several' Rugers I own and I enjoy them all. However, a pox on whoever designed that hammer spur...I mean, seriously?

    H&R 1905

On the 1905 that I'm working on for a friend part #106R is a leaf spring (in the same general shape as this part 106R) and it lies horizontally in the stepped depression on the top left of the trigger guard pictured in the above parts diagram. And I can't figure out what it's doing there(??)...

    H&R 1905

Thank you. The 1906 parts are similar but not identical to the 1905. Do you happen to know the purpose of the bent wire spring, part 106R?

    H&R 1905

Anyone have any experience working on the H&R 1905 Double Action revolver? An exploded view or illustrated parts list? Thanks.

    Tung oil finish

I've used tung oil on handgun and rifle stocks many times over the years. My preference is a 50/50 cut with turpentine - multiple coats rubbed down with #0000 steel wool between coats. I've always been pleased. Nice firearm by the way. Congratulations.

    Silver Creek Firearms

Yeah, they do have that Chiappa Rhino vibe. Not necessarily a bad thing, though. Form follows function and all that. I also agree with the comment about the glare off that mirror finish. They certainly play into that saying about firearms being jewelry for men. The thing that caught my eye and...

    Your favorite CCW - why?

S&W 640 Pro with 158 gn SWC +P loads and Hogue grips in an IWB holster for EDC. I like the extra weight of the st. stl. frame, and the Hogue grips fit my hand really well. S&W 642 with factory grips for summertime carry in a pocket holster, same loads. I'd like to reduce the thickness of the...

    New Holster Designs

Mr. Riot, since my summertime EDC is a pocket holster I have to confess that the idea of the cylinder being against my bare skin was never on my radar. How about a suede 'curtain' that was slightly narrower than the cutout opening, sandwiched between the layers, and stitched at the top of the...

    New Holster Designs

This past year I worked on some holster designs and thought you might like to see some of the results. My preferred carry is IWB and I wanted a design that could function with several different makes and models, provide a means of retention without reverting to the standard practice of molded...

    38 special brass??

Nice target. If you're doing this offhand you should be booking your flight to Camp Perry/2023.

How the French GIGN Developed and Trained with the MR-73

I'm intrigued by his emphasis on using slow burning powder for ammunition used in a revolver. Can anyone offer some clarity on this? I've always followed the general wisdom of using fast burning powder in revolver ammo.

Addicted to Revolvers--What one to buy next!

Definitely something in .22 LR. I know you'd be happy with a 6" Smith 17, but the other suggestions will get you there as well.

    Angle Of Cant

    Angle Of Cant

It's the positioning of the grip for optimal efficiency when drawing the firearm from the holster. I believe the FBI recommends an angle between 15 and 25 degrees. I'm just wondering how much attention is paid to this kind of detail by the general public who carry.

    Angle Of Cant

What angle of cant do you prefer for your holstered firearm? Zero degrees being the barrel is perpendicular to the ground. For IWB? For OWB? To give you an idea of angle - At a 3/9 o'clock carry position a 25 degree cant would have the muzzle pointed about 12" behind your heel. Thank you.
