    Least Expensive .357 snub nose?

Last summer I purchased a very lightly used Ruger SP101 3" for $350 out the door. It is in perfect condition. I think the original owner probably just fired a cylinder or two of magnums before taking it to the pawn shop. I'm currently overseas but when I get home I'm taking it out to the range...

    What caliber for Gambian rats?

Regarding Insomniac, Dave rode around Pre-Katrina New Orleans in the back of a pickup with a SWAT sniper picking off Nutria (I think that's how it's spelled) in the canals. Nutria are an invasive species of large rodents that destroy the local environment.

A new carry piece as a reward

Thanks for all the suggestions folks. I'll be sure to check out the holsters when I get the chance. My dad has a S&W 642 which is always in his front pocket. He loves it, but he's an old wheel gun guy (not that I have anything against wheel guns, hence the SP101). I've seen that there is...

A new carry piece as a reward

I like guns. Unfortunately in that regard, I’m currently employed as a teacher in a foreign country where I can’t have any. When I went home for vacation this past summer I bought myself a new Ruger SP101 with 3” barrel as a reward for toiling away here in China. I had wanted an SP101 for a...

    .45 vs 9mm? - God says .45

By that logic the 38 special might give you a rather undesirable infection. From Psalm 38 "For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh." ;)

    Hi Point Pistols

I've got a Hi Point Comp-9. That's the model with the compensator in 9mm. I bought it when I could afford anything else. It came with 1 8-round, flush fit magazine and 1 10-round extended magazine. The 8 rounder works fine but the extended mag tends to have a ftf every two rounds or so. I need...

    Your first five firearms purchases...

The first gun I ever owned was a birthday present, a Kel-Tec p3at. But my list of actual purchases goes like this: 1)Hi-point 9mm 2)Ruger Sp101 .357 Magnum 3" In retrospect, I should have skipped the hi-point. I wanted a full sized semi-auto pistol at the time and it's all I could afford...

best pocket holster for the p3at?

Another vote for the Desantis Nemisis here. When I carry my p3at in it the gun is kept in proper position. When drawing, the pistol comes out without a hitch and the holster stays in the pocket.

    Happydance! New (to me) SP101!

I got an Sp101 in .357 Magnum with 3" barrel about a month and a half ago. It was $330 out the door very lightly used. Apparently the previous owner bought it new, fired a cylinder and decided .357 was a bit much. I'm more than happy to benefit from their decision.

    What pistols do this?

Hi-points don't do this. You have to pull on the back of the slide and then release it to chamber a round after reloading.

    Winchester .38 Spl +P 125 gr JHP

I don't have any experience with this particular round but I have used plenty of Winchest White Box ammo. The JHPs are always just regular old copper and lead, no fancy silver tips. I like white box ammo in general. It is cheap and usually decent quality.

    Kel-Tec Sub 2000 has problems

How do we know he is breaking a rule? The rule is "never point a firearm at anything you aren't willing to destroy" right? What if he is willing to destroy his liver? ;)

What do you load your 357MAG with?

My .357 is an Sp101 with 3" barrel. It is loaded with 135 grain Gold Dot short barrel loads, so I can't vote for any of the options in the poll. :p

Why do you choose the gun and caliber you use for defense?

I carry a Kel-tec p3at whenever I can do so legally. It is easy to carry either in my front pocket or clipped onto my waist band. I just picked up the clip accessory and it works really well. I realize the .380 round lacks the oomph of larger calibers but the gun is extremely easy to carry...

What Gun Are You Carrying Now?

Right now, nothing. I'm working in China and, obviously, civilians can't own weapons here. Once I'm back in the US and tasting that sweet air of freedom I'll be carrying my Kel-Tec P3at in a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster. I may pick up something else like a Kel-tec P11 or a Bersa Thunder to...

    SIG DAK

According to SIG's website, the DAK system is SIG's DAO trigger. It provides a consistant trigger pull between 6.5 and 7.5 pounds, depending on which model of SIG you are shooting. I'm really interested in trying one out once the opportunity presents itself.
