    cabelas gun guys! sheesh!

I have found three main types that work there. Young hot rods that think they know everything and are all tactical; guys who transferred over from shoes, yesterday; and older guys who know something but are burnt out from dealing with silly customers....

    Gun show observations

Like Thunderchicken said - the MWCA show is pretty decent. However, for the last 6 shows I have only bought bulk ammo if it's a good price. The last gun I bought was a really nicely done Enfield in 35 Whelan, with Weaver 4x scope. A gentleman had it over his shoulder with a "for sale" dowel...

Here is one we speak about often, 2 dead carrying with empty chamber

A gun without a round in the chamber is effectively unloaded, and makes a poor club.

    I found a Remington 1894 double barrel

That is a steal of a deal...and that is not a base level gun. There is some very nice engraving on that gun. You did awesome!

    Browning superposed

Please please please shoot it first before you think about doing the chokes. Mine, which I will eternally regret selling, was a phenom at trap, both barrels, all the way to the 27 yd line... SUPER good price by the way, and that is a beautiful custom stock.

    Interesting NEF .45/70 single shot

RE: the OP. I wouldn't push it as hard as the Ruger. They are not in the same class. They should handle moderate loads no problem, but the locking system is not that stout (compared to the Ruger). Having said that, I love mine in 30-30. I have a Weaver 4x on it, and it is reliable as heck...

    Gun show observations

Our state collector's association had their biggest show of the year last weekend. I tried to talk myself into going but no luck. I have more than a bit of extra ammo around and that would be all I would be interested in buying. The internet has added greatly to my assortment of items to...

Gander Mountain to file for bankruptcy

Three in our metro area are closing. The one closest to me remodeled three years ago and has been disappointing ever since. I bought a split ring pliers from them for my fishing lures and it broke the first time I used it. They do not even sell used guns. Don't know what they do with them...

Tell me about the craziest issue you've seen with a USED gun...

I got screwed on a deal with a Raven .25 once. I had won a S&W Model 15, and the seller threw in the Raven with no magazine, as a "bonus". My FFL of course insisted I take it, charged me transfer. Found a mag on Ebay for like $20 or something and was finally able to dump it for $40. So with...

    W&C Scott SxS

That is a very, very nice gun. Here is some info from the Double Gun forum... "Period Scott literature shows that the Monte Carlo "B" was designed as a live pigeon gun, but was also available as a game gun. The gun illustrated in the Scott literature has a semi pistol grip stock.[IE; not a...

Supreme Court Second Amendment Case Could Overrule Heller Decision in 2017

I must respectfully disagree with this wording.... The right is given neither by the Constitution, nor the Bill of Rights, nor the Supreme Court. It is, however, enumerated in the Bill of Rights. It is not a man-made law that can be taken away, but a natural and God-given right. THE...

    Asked to leave handgun range

So, wait... you put your gun down...? And then brushed your eye? What the heck does that have to do with joint pain? I've had floaters all my life, and they are not related to joint pain. BTW this sentence - doesn't make any sense a'tall. So, back to the point - you moved your arm...
