Is my 442 barrel stripped?! Please help

Thanks Robert, very comforting to hear that! Fremmer thanks, I didn't know that term, learn something new everyday. Yeah, it's cool that S&W test fire these, so you know it's not gonna blow up! Do all manufacturers do this? Maybe it's law and I don't realize... in any case, glad they do...

Is my 442 barrel stripped?! Please help

Thanks guys. I actually had to go back down to the shop to fill my DL# in on one of the forms, so I got to ask their armor about it and he said about the same thing, cleaned it up for me and put some more bluing on it which was very cool and now it looks fine. I'm sure it's ok, he just said to...

Is my 442 barrel stripped?! Please help

I just picked up my new 442 (transfer to local FFL) and upon closely inspecting the barrel where it attaches to the frame I'm seeing some filings like when you strip a bolt. See pics. The barrel doesn't have a gap and looks to be straight... I'm guessing they assemble these after finishing the...

    picking up my 6906 today!

well it's been a long time since I've been around these parts, but am excited to be getting back into the hobby, so thought I'd post. I "had" a S&W K-22, Mod 640, and a SA 1911 GI but had to sell them all due to hard times. Since then I've been able to pick up an M&P9c which I love, but now...

    Scope for my K-22

Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting a scope for my K-22 but need some assistance. I only own handguns right now but will probably eventually get into sniper rifles, etc. but for right now I think a scope on my .22 will be fun to practice long range bench rest type shots with. I don't want...

    S&W 640 tatooed my hand!

I don't know what the deal is, but the web of my hand hurts today... (2 days after shooting) I've never noticed this before and I only shot a box of 158 .38..... maybe it was the way I gripped it.....

    S&W 640 tatooed my hand!

"little finger" sounds better then "pinky".... I was at a gun show with some buddies this morning and I was talking about my need for some better grips since my "pinky" doesn't fit on the uncle mike's. My friend said that's probably one word that shouldn't be spoken at a gun show... I agreed...

    J Frame Grips

thats good to know, thanks. the only thing I wonder about is shooting left handed since it seems that the right grip (where your left thumb would be) does not have the "cutout" for the thumb. This isn't really an issue but I know that the CCW requirement here involves shooting both left and...

    J Frame Grips

Ok, this has been done before.... but what hasn't when you really think about it. I'm wondering what grips to get for my J-frame 640 .38 I currently have uncle mike's boot grips, but I want to swith them out. I love the look of these http://www.lightningarms.com/spegel_boot.htm but for...

    S&W 640 tatooed my hand!

Well I went to the range with the 640 today and shot a box of .38 Speer 158gr and it was a bit unpleasant..... didn't really hurt but left a nice impression on my hand. The gun also shifts in my hand when one handed shooting, and I'm not very accurate past 5-7 yards. I have uncle mike's boot...

    how to "un-register" a firearm

wow, thats crazy.... yeah, its mandatory here in Clark County (I live in Vegas/Henderson) to register your guns immediately (within 24 hours) and most (if not all) shops do it on the spot and issue you a "blue card" I actually found out the answer to my dillema today when talking with a shop...

Don't know jack about cleaning....... paranoid?

After my range trip today I realized that I knew nothing about cleaning pistols so I started looking up stuff on the internet and it started to make me think about how I clean my revolvers too. I use the typical rod and bronze brush, mop, and patches (with slotted tip) but I never paid much...
