I have an Steyr SBS Pro-Hunter in .270 Win that I got from CDNN a few years back. It had a wooden stock but was on special and came with synthetic stock too. I added a 10-round mag (plus adadpter) since I'll only use it in punching papers. It is really accurate. But, I don't really care for...
I'd say K-31
K-31 can have six round in the mag and one in the chamber, easier (for me) to shoot quickly. Of course, one has to take advantage of its full power ammo by using it at long distances. Plus, it can be had in nice walnut stocks which add to the romanticism of old rifles:neener:
I do not have a 2230 per se. What I have is 2230-C which is very similar but a tiny bit slower (they say). I played with it with my M39s and 91/30s. First time I tried it with 147gr FMJBT 308 bullets, WLR primer, 45gr 2230. In the range with m39s. Fire one, bullet stuck about 6 inches into...
I have 2 M-39's with scout-style scope set (scope forward the receiver, above the rear sight). The field of view is too small for my liking as opposed to regular scope set up with the same magnification. I am also thinking of getting a PU set-up (like TIMC's) but also considering Rocksolid...
I have gotten several M39's from gunsnammo over the years and there's no problem whatsoever in ordering with my C&R. Good company. However, descriptions and expectations may vary from one person to another. An example of this is "mirror shine" vs "shiny bright bore" vs "mirror shiny sharp...
I found this while borwsing for Makarov bullets: Speer Gold Dot HP Pistol Bullets. 9mm Makarov/.364". 155 Gr. GDHP. 100 per box. http://www.gamaliel.com/cart/product.php?productid=3274
Has anybody tried this 155gr on their 9x18 load? How was it?
I've played with mosin's sears and bolts a few times. Yours is the is the first one I've seen like that. Anyway, I'd file/grind the front flat to remove that bevel for sure. Watch the angle of the mating surface. It affects the weight of your trigger pull. Grind/file accordingly. Also...
AMT III in .30 Carbine is one of my most wanted handguns since having fired one some years ago (I don't own one). You would get the, "What the...?" from the next few cubicles in in-door gun ranges as it makes BOOM, not bang. Muzzle flash is HUGE but the gun is easy to shoot and quite...
My experience is that my AR is never as reliable as my Glock. My Glock would run on anything I feed it. For short range or home defense rifle I'd go to my VZ-58.
When Samco raised their price to $169 for the unissued Yugo SKS about 2 years or so ago I panicked. Bought three. These days Big 5 sells them for around $300 for VG condition.
I shoot and carry 27 a lot. If they still come with that stepped trigger (as opposed to the flat ones) the 27 will numb your trigger finger after about 20 rounds shooting. This is more so using full-power 180grainers. Also, definitely need mag extensions.
With detachable aftermarket ones you won't. You will need to machine the bottom and side of the bolt so that in doesn't get caught by the magazine lips and there's room to push mag in.
K-31 are nice rifles. I have a few of them. Some are beaters and others are really nice. Among my collections of K-31s, one has no serial number on bolt and one with electro-pencilled serial number on bolt sleeve. Two of them has bores that are worn out. So, I would say go for the highest...
I have Steyr Pro-Hunter in .270 Win. It came with wood and synthetic stock (adjustable length of pull) and I have 10-round mag on it. I like shooting it but I don't hunt and only shoots papers and gongs. Very accurate and the single-stage trigger is supperb. The things I don't like about it...
This may not be your issue, but I once had a hard time with the bolt on my SHR 970. Mine was traced back to the glue I used on the scope mount base screws that oozed inside the receiver.
I'd also do a thorough check on the screws that hold the barrel to the receiver.
