    Bad Gun Store Experience

Machete said: " What are your thoughts? " I would find another FFL. Life is hard enough without a run-in with a sour shop clerk. Been there and done that, and the bad memories still linger on. The LGS folks I shop with now are super.

Revolver care. How did they do it 150 years ago?

Hello loose noose: I just use dishwater soap, and hot water, and a hot water rinse. I don't know as it would hurt anything, but what is the peroxide and alcohol for?

what .22 do you use for pest control

Hey samort457: Like your post. Since I don't own a pellet gun, yet I did favor you guys who do have them, simply because of the quiet report they emit so as not to attract attention from fretting neighbors. I searched, and experimented with different .22 cal ammo. Longs, CB's , Shorts...

what .22 do you use for pest control

jmorris; that's excellent shooting. 98 yds with an air rifle, and a snake with an air pistol. I never was any good with any type of handgun. I have astigmatism which makes it hard enough with a rifle.

what .22 do you use for pest control

TeaCoffee.Guy: Just a thought. I wouldn't shoot a harmless snake (or a poisonous one) for any reason except if it was unavoidable. I like reptiles. Instead I would try to move it to someplace else. Just a thought. I understand TeaCoffee Guy: I don't like killing for the fun of it, but You...

I noticed the no stripes on the rank and file too. After I posted earlier, I figured they were some Basic Trainees getting to hold their new weapons for the first time.

    Powder shortage

Quote docsleepy: "No man ever armed a nation, in all the history of the world, like this before. " Yep; draw the attention of the public at large about a good product that may be discontinued, and you've got yourself a whole new customer base that's growing every day, and we oldtimers wonder...

    Powder shortage

Family and friends of shop employees get the highsign when shipments of powder and ammo will arrive. First come first served. Also read that the manufactures of such aren't that big. Thus, keeping up with demand is impossible.

"Group of US Soldiers Pose with their M1911 Pitstols"

Looks like they had just been issued these arms and are showing them off. Some of the boys act like they've never handled a pistol in their life. A little handgun training needs to be given from the looks of things too.

    explain appeal of single-shot rifles

My friend grew up in a poor family, using an inexpensive .22 single shot with open sights. Could knock the eye out of a Squirrel at distances I'd be happy if I could just hit the squirrel. I think what is attractive about them is the fact that a person who can't afford the finer things in...

Is it even worth arguing with the Anti's?

No. A buddy of mine was a Squad Leader in the jungles of Vietnam. He saw more action than most. Saw his best men shotdown, blowed up, etc. You'd think after all of that, he would be pro-gun. Not ! He was very set against gun ownership of any type. After we came back from the war he'd have...

what .22 do you use for pest control

For Rats and Chicken Snakes in the barn, I use CCI .22 long riffle birdshot in this Model 62sa by ROSSI. I've tried Winchester and Federal, but this works best without jamming. The birdshot will not penetrate the barn, but it will knock a large snake out of the rafters at 14' DRT. Does not...

    Reward For Stolen Guns

notmyrichie; being broken into, that's a fear we all have. It leaves such a raw feeling deep within one's soul. Addicts, and Gamblers, lose all respect for themselves as well as others, and there's nothing they won't do to fill their emptiness. $1,500 insurance they gave you. Their little...

Revolver care. How did they do it 150 years ago?

Quote: Driftwood Johnson "Most cowboys were very young men who made very little money. Many did not own a firearm, and some ranches forbade cowboys from carrying them. On the trail, a cowpoke would be busy from dawn to dusk herding cattle, he would not have time for many shooting activities. And...
