My dad hunts with an 1187 with a cantilever slug barrel. With Hornady SST's it is really accurate. I had a Ultra Slug hunter in 12 gauge and it was very accurate with the SST's as well Remington copper solids, but it is extremely heavy IMHO.

If you don't reload, you may want to check ammo availability in your area. You may also want to look into a 22-250. Ballistics close to the .204 with a bigger bullet. Recoil with any of the three is not much.

If you don't reload, I would suggest you look around at ammo availability. I made the mistake of getting a 300 Weatherby Mag and I'm not having much luck finding it. I think either will kill anything you mention that you may hunt.

I have the T3 Varmint SS chambered in .223. I don't see it ever leaving my possession. The action is slick and it is more accurate than I probably ever will be. Oh, and the user adjustable trigger isn't too bad either.

I have the Trijicons on the SP101 I just purchased. You can not see the green dot from the bad guys view. With that said, the dot is very small from the shooters side. It's about half the size as the sights on both my Glocks.
