taking guns away from free people is only a symptom of a larger problem; taking
guns away from free people is the hardest thing for ANY guberment to do;
after that, everything else is cake.
if you have a Cabelas near you, have the guy check (or you can) their gun
library; if there's one you want to buy they can ship it in from another store.
just checked,,there's 2 for $999.99- A ruger M77 in 375 Ruger (PA) & a Whitworth
express in SD.
LGS (Austin, tx) had 12 x 1lb. of Bullseye today, so I got two; Found two x 1lbs. of BL-C2 at Cabelas couple of weeks ago,
so combine that with my leftover stash of Unique, Varget,
PB & various other rifle powders I should be good for the next year, based on how
much I shoot right now. rifle &...
I got mine used from Cabelas several years ago for $650(.308 w/cheap scope); 3 shots touch w/Fed 150 gr blue box ammo @ 100yds.
Yes, it's a nice gun.
My second oldest twin boy is gonna get that one someday.
The other's getting my AR.
pro mag, ramline or any other after mkt mfg. make these that are
worth a darn?
anyone ever cut down a 22" bbl to 18 or 20"?
I know about the velocity loss, but how much would the
accurcy suffer? (any worse than my spellin)
it's a hunting gun, so 3-4" at 100-200 yards is acceptable...
I had a link at one time; seems like Univ. of Michigan had online plans. I was going to
try it with PVC pipe with carpet inside. Maybe someday when I get a real backstop
HSO's second link shows shooting thru 5' diameter concrete pipes; the ones I've seen used in switzerland were more like I...
if you hunt around, there plans online to create "shooting tubes", something like
shooting thru 10' long x 12-18" pvc or other pipes (not sure of the exact length)
These "attenuate" the sound and have the added advantage of having zero horizion
(not being able to shoot outside the area of yer...
thanks for the imput; I don't load alot of lead boolits, much less pistola
rounds. MBC 9's are for training. I'll buy some good jacketed defensive
rounds for later stockpiles.
Most of my reloading is rifle training and hunting rounds.
not much help with standard loading manuals; guns are
Ruger P95 & Tarurs 111;
looking for reduced loads for training the wifey.
Powders available are Unique (flamin' dirt) and Blue Dot going
in mixed brass.
thanks
i'd pay $300 for a side by side or O/U for HD;
I've had an 870 w/mag extension & side saddle; nearly 12 lbs;
ETA; my go to gun for HD is a H&R 12 ga single shot w/8 rounds in a pouch on the stock; weighs around 7 lbs (including a forearm under mounted flashlight)
my backup to that is a...
saw one the other day, but haven't found any online;
shop had it for $500; didn't seem worth it; an O/U w/18" bbls
& a top mounted rail all painted black seems overpriced for what you get.
the only thing that would make it even close to worth it is
it had screw in chokes.
anyone find these?
I've been doing it for severl years; there's even a 12ga. load with buffer (you'll have to look it up, sorry, but if IIRC it's from BPI)
only diffrence is having to count out & hand place the pellets; got some #1 & 00 buck dirt cheap, so that's how I started. Doing 20 & 12 ga. Get a single...
there's a fairly new shop in Brenham, 45 min. northwest of houston, Independence Firearms; they're HUGE, plus they're in the same bldg. with Ammo To Go.
nuff said, plenty worth the drive.
same problem finding used 308
i was looking eariler this year (Central Tx) and couldn't find a decent
used bolt action 308 either; I dealt with at least 4 pawn shops that
I had had success with eariler, and 4 large gun stores that usually have
a good selection of used rifles on hand.
I...
check yer stuff good,,,
at my first Appleseed it started rainin' & my factory mags wouldn't drop from
my well broken in 10/22. And no, they didn't stop shootin' cause of rain. Only lightning will stop the show.
Make sure that ammo feed & ejects reliabilaty, as I found out, again, my stuff...
why does anyone still ask this question?
seems about every 6 months or so here, ARFCOM, ect.,,,(name your fav. gun site) someone asks THAT question.
it always reminds me of the joke- Who's the only non-FBI guy at a milita meeting? The ATF guy!
btw, I live in Texas & we're required...
saw a beautiful wood stocked 308 mauser, with apparently a semi custom bbl. [it didn't have the rear sight on the bbl.]; had a peep sight mounted on the right side of the rear of the reciever.
As I've never worked on, owned or shot a sporterized mauser, I wuz wondering about a scope mount...
I'm reloading 55gr FMJ remmy boolits in front of H335 in my reused/found/begged cases on Lee gear for .17 cents per round; that's how you shoot ALOT cheaply.
You can get a good basic reloading bench setup with this gear for less than $150 that will load accurate ammo & keep you busy watching...
