Fire Mission - Hit this poll please!

Time to Put the Gun Issue to Rest? The Supreme Court on Monday extended the federally protected right to keep and bear arms to all 50 states, effectively invalidating Chicago's handgun ban. It's just the latest in a long line of challenges to America's right to bear arms. Is it time to put the...

    VA Knife Laws

I had a bartender in a VA club tell me that it was illegal to carry any knife in a place that serves alcohol. A "former deputy" sitting chimed in that that was the case. I looked all over and I can't find anywhere that states any such thing. In fact, VA seems to have very little in the way of...

    My 1st competitive shoot!

The wife and I went to a VCDL Picnic and steel plate shoot this weekend. I took the WORST guns for this we had. One was because it was what I carried most, a P11 Kel-Tek and the other was a C9 Hi-Point for the wife to shoot just for grins and giggles. Terri normally out shoots me and I figured...

    Got in a wreck today

Me and the wife are OK, got tweaked necks and a scraped and slightly dented car and a court date. It was a pretty goof wreck. 5 or more vehicles involved, 2 people hauled off in ambulances and the West bound of a major interstate closed for an hour. I got rear-ended by a tailgater. The tailgater...

    That horrible sound

I arrived 5 minutes late Memorial day for my shift at the VCDL table at the Harrisonburg Gun Show at Rockingham fairgrounds. I apologized to Mike and rolled around back of the table and settled in. Mike and I said our "Hello's" and "How are ya's" and began our shift. It had been slow as gun...

    Custom Grips?

This is my dad's Model 10 He gave me before he died. My question is: Are these custom grips? I can't find any identifying marks inside or out and they do look exceptionally nice.

The Kel-Tek P22 and Annie Oakley

I bought a Kel-Tec P-22 (new) at my local gun shop (Nuckols Gun Works, Staunton, VA) the other day for $205 and tested it out today with the wife in tow. I had also just bought a HiPoint C9 (new as well) the day before I got the P-11 at the same place for $145 (it's a disease I tells ya). The...

    Grassroots in Louisiana?

Does Louisiana have any effective grassroots organization(s) like Virginia's VCDL? I plan to move "home" one day and I know I will miss the VCDL and their members!

    I need fire-forming advice

I need to fire-form some .223 to 9mm WinMag (9x29). My normal loads use Blue Dot behind a 147gr Jacketed Hollow-point with a small pistol primer. With the reduced initial case volume, should I: Reduce bullet weight? Reduce powder charge? (if so, how much?) Change to a hotter/colder...

    Full Auto

If a full auto weapon is defined as firing more than once for a single pull of the trigger and the "shoestring trick" and malfunctions are now classified as "machine guns," what about old Ithica shotguns that fire with every forward pump as long as the trigger is held or single action revolvers...

    Lee 1000 Indexing issues

I have a Lee 1000 that has indexing issues. It stops just short and the priming ram hits the shell plate. You have to push the shell plate around (about 1/4" total movement). Any ideas on how to fix?

    S&W Terrier anyone?

A friend brought a S&W for me to identify and get a value for. After much searching and research, I discovered it was a Terrier model! A .38 S&W in a .32 frame. The finish is not great as it has some surface rust but is very tight and indexes perfectly. Best I could come up with was a street...

    9mm projectiles won't crimp tightly

I have several hundred 147 grain 9mm jacketed hollow point projectiles that are giving me FITS trying to find a crimp that will hold! I can crimp them to the point of VERY visible distortion yet the projectiles will still easily rotate in the brass. It's as if the jackets/lead is so much softer...

Rusty Remington & Sons New Model questions

My wife's boss has an original Remington & Sons New Model Cap and Ball Revolver that is in poor shape. It is surface rusted but not past the point of no return. The cylinder rotates, indexes but the hammer spring (probably ALL springs) are broken. My question is, clean, polish repair and shoot...
