    What's your favorite finish on a 1911?

Someone said hard chrome by Virgil Tripp? This one was done in 2006. Sorry for the cell phone quality pic.

Have you ever liked a gun so much, that you bought second copy?

I don't remember where I heard this saying (probably this forum), but it goes: "If you find something you like, buy two, because they'll quit making it." It's proven to be good advice for me at times.

Browning Buckmark stopped firing. Please help.

That's probably exactly what your problem is. Same thing happens on my Buckmark. Tighten the screws on the top rail (the one that contains the rear sight) and that will fix the problem. You can loctite those screws if you want, but otherwise, carry an allen wrench to the range just in case...

    Dura coating

Gun Blue is much bluer than a real blued finish. If you want to use Duracoat to better replicate the look of bluing, try mixing Gun Blue and Gloss Black.

    C&R renewal

I received my renewal application a few months ago, and was not asked for my records. If you are not renewing, C&R holders are not required to send in their records. It says so on the form in small print in the "NOT RENEWING?" box... unless the form has changed. Are you sure you're reading...

Anybody else still carry the Kel-Tec p11?

Might as well join the old thread. I'm with MCgunner. The P11 is hard to beat on price and capacity for the size. Smaller 9mm's are not THAT much smaller, especially at this price point. However, I might go for a PF9 if I were buying one today, because I do find its grip to be more...

    "Never sell a gun"

I sold a gun yesterday, actually. It was in great condition and worked just fine. I made a little money off it, but not much. My reason for selling it was that I just wasn't interested in it any more. I figured I'd sell it at a fair price and give someone else the chance to enjoy it, rather...

Academy Sports shocker (GOOD THIS TIME)

I love Academy; certainly the best and most pro-gun sporting chain I've been to. They started in Texas - probably doesn't surprise anybody!

    Handgun storage

I saw one guy who used brass rods for something similar. That could possibly be better, since the brass won't absorb moisture.

Tech-SIGHTS Aperture Sights for Ruger 10/22

I may have to get a 10/22 for this. I really had no interest in that rifle before, having acquired a CZ-452 first.

What ammo works reliably in a Buckmark

I feed mine the Federal bulk packs with no problem. It seems to be the best of the cheap .22 ammo to me.

Removing the Internal safety on the Springfield

Springfield's ILS is a great way to play both sides of gun politics. It lets them put on a lock to satisfy the lawyers and antis. For us, it is 100% removable for just a few $$ worth of parts. The parts are all in the mainspring housing.

    Why .38?

Price. A good, used .38 can be found for not much over $100. It would be a perfectly fine defensive handgun for those on a budget or those who aren't really gun people.

    jury nullification

Nothing in the Constitution prohibits jury nullification.

    Poll.... Browning Hi-Power owners only.

I voted for the first one - "I have only a BHP 9mm". Reason: I've found it is the best 9mm for me, and I don't need any other ones (save duplicates!).

    Anyone watch "Oil Storm"?

True, two months if we lose all imports and don't cut demand. It is true that we can make oil. The biggest problem is the aformentioned EROEI. Making oil via thermal depolymerization has an EROEI of about 5.6:1, rather than 30:1 that we get from petroleum in the ground. In other words...

    Anyone watch "Oil Storm"?

<shrug> When full, there's only enough oil in the SPR to last about a month. Two, when you add domestic oil production to the mix.

My new pistol arrived today *pics*

BootsSiR, thanks for the pics. There is a section on cleaning pistols, with pictures, on my website. The link is below.

    Anyone watch "Oil Storm"?

mmike87, You are correct about oil being about the best thing for EROEI (energy return on energy invested). This is because we aren't creating the energy - we're just extracting it from the ground. However, hydrogen's EROEI is not 2:1; it's actually 1:6. In other words, six units of energy...

    First Garand: where? how much?

A C&R license counts as proof of firearms knowledge. The CMP has broadened their requirement from a qualified shooting activity to a number of things that reflect a general knowledge of firearms. http://www.odcmp.com/Services/Rifles/eligibility_requirements.htm
