    Henry .22 rimfire

I have a H001T (Frontier model with the octagon barrel (pictured). On an semi-related note, I also just inherited my dad's 1957 *unfired* Winchester Model 94. It looks like it just came out of the box.

Stripper Clips - The Good and The Bad

I have over 750 stripper clips loaded with 5.56. To me, they're like gold. I also have a box of the G.I. issue loader spoons, as well as a handful of stripulas to load mags. I can load a 30-round mag in about 12 seconds using a spoon/stripula. I wish there was such a thing for .45 ACP it takes...

Looking for a muzzle brake for AR-15

A flash hider is more important than a muzzle break. I'd go flash hider. I use the Smith Vortex on my ARs.

    Clean AR after it sits?

I cut the fingers off leather work gloves and put them over the barrels when they're sitting in the safe. Keeps the dust/critters out. To the OP, you should always check the action and visually inspect the weapon before trying to use it, especially if it's been in the safe a while.

New firearms software - beta test starts soon!

I'm glad to see more software developers interested in shooting. I did CamoPicker. What are you writing in? CamoPicker is written as a C#/Winforms app, but 'm working on converting it to C++ using Qt framework so it can be used on Linux/Apple boxes as well.

    How many loaded mags?

I have two AR-15's and maintain 18 loaded 30-round mags (16 in bandoliers, one in each rifle), and six loaded 20-round mags. I also have two 1911's, both in Condition 1, and maintain 12 spare loaded mags.

    TulAmmo

I use Tula in my AR-15s. Even after 3000+ rounds, I've experienced absolutely no problems. It's more than $100 cheaper than LC Brass ammo (in cases of 1000)...

    ar-15 buffer tube problem

I use the Primary Weapons Systems Enhanced Buffer Tude. It eliminates the need for a castle nut, and provides a QD sling swivel hole on both sides of the lower. It's much more expensive than a standard buffer tube/castle nut, but it's a much nicer unit too.

THere must be shortage of ammo cans

That must be a puny bucket. And for $149 at walmart, you get the ammo can, and all of the ammo on stripper clips.

    One piece scope mount?

I have two of the PEPR mount. They work great.

    Decided I need/want an AR

If you have a $1000 budget, you can't buy a rifle, ammo, and accessories (optics being the most important), and that statement is based on the way your original message was worded. When you figure decent optics start at $400 (Aimpoint PRO), and ammo is $350/1000 for Lake City/Federal brass...

I have a CZ-452 Silhouette. Very nice rifle (scope required due to absence of iron sights).

    Rock Island Armory 1911 accuracy

Have someone else shoot it and see how they do. You may just need to adjust the rear sight a bit. But then again: This diagnostic chart may help

Season your 22LR barrel for best results

The rule of thumb is that when you change ammo or are starting with a clean barrel, you should fire one round for every inch of barrel length in order to season the barrel. I fire 25 rounds for seasoning. (just enough on my CZ452, and more than enough for my Henry and 15-22). I'm glad you...

Dedicated AR 22LR upper or M&P15-22?

I have a 15-22, and it's a nice rifle that I really like, but if I had it to do over again, I'd get a dedicated upper.

    ar 15 sight help/advice

I bought a Primary Arms Microdot for both of my ARs just to have something until I could afford an Aimpoint/EO-Tech. Well, my stars fell into alignment recently, and I ordered a couple of Aimpoint PRO scopes this week ($400 each at RifleGear.com). I should be receiving them on Monday. I have...

Newbie looking for first AR-15.. M&P15 vs. Colt 6920

It's an improvement over the 6920 because they they used S&W parts. (just pokin' the Colt fans in the ribs) :)

Newbie looking for first AR-15.. M&P15 vs. Colt 6920

I did that. It actually cost a little more to build the rifle the way I wanted it than the MOE I bout for $1150. The distinction is that with the S&W, I've spent close to $800 what I want it to be, and I still haven't replaced the barrel/handguard (an additional $400) - yet. When you add it up...
