    Your Shot Placement

Yeah I'd be leery of shooting that elk through the ribs/sternum for the heart shot. He doesn't seem to be in too much a hurry so no harm in waiting for him to help you out a bit. He can't stand like that forever... Play it  Byte

    out door Trail Cameras

Must be those fandangle new white deer I hear so much about....the blend in with the background quite well. :neener: Byte PS Nice shot of that buck Chuck...ooo I made a rhyme!

.308 Enough gun for Meese, Brown Bear, Polar Bear

Sure .308's enough...if you're hangin' out the door of a chopper attached to a minigun! Ah all kidding aside, .308 is fine for meese and smaller bears assuming load, bullet, & shot placement are all taken care of. I wouldn't point and click at anything with teeth and claws that looked to be...

    Mosin Nagant

I'd love one of the M91/30 snipers w/ scope and rail. Great fun to collect. I really love the 3 foot flame that comes out of the muzzle on my M44 when shooting the old Russian surplus! Byte

Where is the love for AK-47's?

That's hawt! Yeah I don't own any AR's either. Just AK's, my Yugo 24/47 Mauser, and a M44 Mosin. And the 10/22, of course! Byte

Where is the love for AK-47's?

I love to caress my AK's too! The pointy parts are annoying though... :neener: Romanian G kit AK-47 in K-Var Plum built on a NDS-3 receiver by Arma Rifle out of Parker, CO. AKS-74 in OD Green K-Var built on NDS-2SF receiver by HDI in Henderson, NV. AKS-74 w/ 570rnd loadout! Love the...

    Start them young

Hey, bannock, that looks exactly like the Firing Line indoor range in Aurora, CO! You're lucky to get to spend any time with a 13yr old! That's usually when the 'I hate yous' and 'why won't you just leave me alones' start! Ah youth! Good on you all for raising them right. Byte

Montana Outdoors: Tough hunting decisions: What would you do?

Ah yeah, 41magsnub, I was set straight on that. After getting a 'talking to' I now understand that the increased penalty would only be levied if the animal is taken illegally in some form. :o Reading comprehension 101 was all full up! Byte

Montana Outdoors: Tough hunting decisions: What would you do?

Had an in depth rant all typed up and ready to post, thought better of it since I am not a regular poster here. :o I will throw this out there, however. Law enforcement in its many iterations in this country ceased to be a common sense endeavor many years ago. Sadly it is now used as an...

    Safe Target?

Remember to mount them so they deflect the round down. A slight angle will be fine but beware of close range shooting. If they are hard enough they will not absorb much energy by flexing/denting. The splatter effect up close can be wicked painful when it comes back at ya! Byte EDIT oh yeah...

Squirrels are cute! Don't kill them!

Here in CO we have the black ones with the bushy tails and tufted ears. They are hella cute! Pretty sure I couldn't bring myself to eat one... :barf: Rat stew by any other name? I'll pass. Apparently, they're evil though... http://www.scarysquirrel.org/current/blackskwerls/  Byte

Up for some Arctic hunting picts?

Wow! The bear pics are great. Especially the b&w one with the two guys behind the big brown. Was that you? I'm jealous if it was you! :D I was able to visit Fairbanks for the first week of March in '06 and was truly happy for the first time in years. Haven't seen snow piled up like that...

svd is it worth the 800$$

Yeah at that price I'll eat my hat if it's a true SVD. Then I'll sneak in and buy it out from under you! It's most likely a PSL and at $800 that's a great price if it's in new or near new condition. Sadly, merchants know that they can take advantage of peoples general lack of gun...

    Army training with new rifles

I'd take my 5.45x39 AK to war. :uhoh: Victim of my own inability to avoid the bait. Caliber is much less important to me in a war setting than many other things. And no one soldier can have the single tool in his bag that addresses every scenario or eventuality that many point to to back up...

    longest range

Yeah and even if he had the money...money doesn't make the shot. :scrutiny: Raiden, if you're serious about long range shooting, you're as much as $10,000 (could be twice that!) and several hundred hours from realizing that goal. Spend a few weeks using the tool that you already have access...

    Is there such a caliber?

Rangerruck, Asbolutely!, don't know anything about the cartridge, probably, and yes; referring to the 4 cartridges you mentioned. Especially since they're using type II as the basis. I shoot my 8mm Mauser at 1/4 plate steel and it chews right through. The shiny holes with the copper ring...

    The Fireball of M38

That's why I nicknamed my M44 Ye ole' Flamethrower! :D

How much 7.62x54R do YOU have in stock?

Yeah I'm only sittin' on about 150 54R's because my only rifle chambered for it is my M44! :p It'll take me months to shoot it up anyway. It's taking me over a year and half to get through half a tin of Romanian 8mm! I can't take the beating the Mosin and my M24/47 dish out for long stretches...
