haha that is true, you cant really just stop with one mosin, I am thinkin about getting a 91/30 pretty soon

M44 and M91. First rifle I have owned that uses a bent nail for a trigger. They are unique thats for sure!

:)

I'd love one of the M91/30 snipers w/ scope and rail. Great fun to collect.

I really love the 3 foot flame that comes out of the muzzle on my M44 when shooting the old Russian surplus!

I love my Mosins as well. Actually took my M44 out today, and had a blast (no pun intended...:D)

My most recent addition is a 1952 Polish M44. 1222216949.gif

Well, looks like I am the exception rather than the rule. I only own one:(. She's a 1942 dated M38 that shoots dragons breath when you touch off a round:D! I love it!

Had one... it shot nice, but man what a horrible trigger. Kicks like a mule also what that steel buttplate.

Only have one, for now!! A 41 Izzy Low wall. When my son(23) shot it he said that the Russians must love pain!!

This rifle was intended to be fired by troops wearing very heavy, thick woolen coats over several other layers of clothing. The Russians are a cold weather people and they have always designed their military accordingly. Of course the recoil is going to be extremely brutal if you're shooting a Mosin in a t-shirt.

Mosin Nagants are like Lays potato chips...you can't have just one.

I bought my second about a week ago, an Izzy 91/30, dated 1938. My other one is an Izzy M38 dated 1944, IIRC. Everyone says they hurt, but if you shoot them from a standing position and pull it in tight to your muscle, not bone, they are quite pleasant to shoot.
I haven't shot MY 91/30 yet, but I visited a friend this weekend and shot his. Much less recoil than the M38 and M44. Problem was, he only had about 40rds left and didn't bother to tell me so I could bring a few hundred with me.

I've really come to like Mosin Nagants and especially the 7.62x54R cartridge. It's got ballistics like a 30-06, but I find it a lot less punishing to shoot and you can't beat the price of ammo. I don't care so much for the carbines though. There's something more appealing to me about a very long barrel on an old milsurp rifle. They don't have the muzzle blast, the sight radius is great and they just look cool.

but man what a horrible trigger

not all... as stated the Type53 has a much better trigger

M39s have good triggers
my 91/59 has a good trigger
my sniper has a wonderful trigger
also every romanian M44 i've handled had a trigger much like the type53
the one hungarian i've fired had a decent trigger
i've not had the honor of firing (live or dry) a polish M44

keep in mind these are military issue weapons not target rifles the triggers aren't going to be super light

is it true that they grow on trees and the ammo in the farmers soil?
i think they incubate in coastline
