    Boston T. Party's Battle Rifle

1776 by David McCullough is a good book to see what the Militias were really like.

    Steyr M95 ammo...

Keep in mind that you need clips as well unless you want the rifle to be a single shot. The Nazi-marked ammo comes on clips which makes it a good deal.

Best gun play in a movie?

If you listen to the commentary, the director mentions that they went overboard in that one sequence. Although, if you actually count the shots, it's really only about two magazines apiece. There just isn't time inbetween for reloads (which is probably an editing issue as much as anything).

    HK factory video from YouTube

Is that a 1911 sitting on the desk at 4:06?

Am I crazy? Or, "The SBR'ed MN 91/30"

Ex-sniper MNs aren't particularly rare or valuable. They are just an interesting historical footnote like the Mark I 1903s.

    what else in 7.62X54R

Here's the link for the conversion. Main advantages are cheaper ammo, generally increased accuracy, and it can be done to barrels with excessive throat erosion to make them serviceable again.

    Mythbusters - 29 November - Guns

Most likely, they actually had dozens of tests that you just didn't see. They talk about this in the "Outtakes" special. Some people complain because it often appears like they do an experiment once or twice and call it good. In reality there might be dozens or hundreds of tests and only a...

Springfield M14 quality of fit and finish

Springfield's synthetic stocks are beat up GI synthetic stocks that are painted to cover up all the gouges and scrapes.

    Price check on 1903a3

Is it a 1903 or a 03a3? Rock Island Arsenal only made 1903s while Remington and Smith Corona made the 03a3s. Personally, that seems pretty high to me unless it was a pristine condition, all matching, non WWII refurb rifle with a mirror-like bore. Check the date stamped on the top of the...

    Thoughts on the PS90?

The current official Bond gun is a Walther P99. It's possible a Five-seveN might have made an appearance somewhere, but that's not what he was carrying most of the time.

    Thoughts on the PS90?

Here is a good thread over at Tactical Forums if you want to learn about the real world ballistics of the 5.7 round, not the FN marketing world ballistics. It contains a number of journal articles by prominent ballisticians (including Dr. Fackler) that can be looked up. DocGKR is Dr. Gary...

    Good laugh, car shot up

The clip is from his latest video, The Good The Bad The Ugly. I fail to see how we are "losing" anything. This is a British motoring video made by the British for people in Britain. Since the show is about the various vehicles Americans try to pass off as sports cars, it includes the...

CMP out of Service Grade M1s (again)

That is how they usually operate. Once they run out of availble rifles in a particular grade, they will stop take orders for a while. When they have checked and graded enough rifles to fill all the backorders and build up a reasonable supply (so they don't sell out again immediately), they will...

How do SA 1903 variants compare??

The issues with low number 1903s are vastly overrated. Go here for a very good write up about it.

How do SA 1903 variants compare??

There is also the Mark I 1903 for use with the Pedersen Device. Mainly just of historical interest since you'll never see a Pedersen Device outside of a museum. Wikipedia has a good rundown of the different versions here.

    Thoughts on the PS90?

If it was half the price and ammunition was half the price, I might buy one. As it is, it is just an overpriced novelty.

    Anachronisms in movies

Zulu does have a few issues. The biggest being the Webley MkVI revolvers 30+ years before they were introduced (and a year before the Webley MKI). Supposedly, some of the rifles used in the big fight at the end (when all the soldiers are on screen at the same time) are some kind of Lee-Metford...

    The follow-on to Kalashnakitty?

That thread is almost 3 years old. If Sanrio had any legal ground to stand on, why would they send Graywolf a cease and desist letter then sit and twiddle their thumbs for three years while he continues to sell shirts? If you are really that worried, send him a private message and see what he says.
