I have been reading the "Life of Lieutenant-General Nathan Bedford Forrest" by John Allan Wyeth.
There are more references in this book to breech loaders, Colt revolving rifles and etc. by both the Union and Confederacy than any other Civil War writings that I have read before. It seems the...
I was reading where Ruger sales and profits in 2014 are taking a drastic 76% downturn as compared to sales through 2013.

The possibility for such was debated recently on HR, but that possibility has now become reality.

Was reviewing threads on the Lead Sled and came across some that were interesting, then they took a turn to the bad got locked.
I don't want to create acrimony, so would like to just keep it to their use as stated in title.
Took the New (to me) 1939 (same age as I) Russian 91/30 Izhevsk rifle out today and put 30 rounds of 1980 Russian 147 grain light ball milsurp through it. Action worked slick and flawlessly throughout the shoot with no binding (this can be a problem with some) whatsoever. Accuracy at 100 yards...
I put about 50 boolits in a clean coffee can and sprayed well with carb cleaner to clean, sloshed around for a bit and dumped out on paper towels to dry.
Using Harbor Freight red epoxy powder coat, ($3.99 lb) dry tumbled by hand for few minutes in plastic container, dumped boolits onto screen...
It is my understanding that in Colorado (and soon in Washington state) a purchasor buying legal marijuana must show ID. While state legal, the ATF and DEA takes a different view. ATF Form 4473 states a Marijuana (even medical) user cannot purchase a firearm and it is illegal for an individual...
Today, from Cabela’s I received a Pietta 5.5 inch barreled 1858 Remington, cost was $229.95 and included a free (normal $69.99) Cabelas .44 caliber starter kit. (which I really don’t need, but is nice anyway) I also have another 1858, but it is the 8” barreled target model with adjustable...

EPA denies bid to ban lead in hunting ammunition
By FREDERIC J. FROMMER
Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Environmental Protection Agency has denied a petition by five environmental groups to ban lead in hunting ammunition.
The agency said Friday that it...
40 million illegal guns held by civilians in China. And the commies can and do give the death penalty for illegal gun trafficking.
"In 2007, a study by the Geneva-based Graduate Institute of International Studies estimated the total number of guns held by civilians in China at 40 million...
Whowhee, scary, the Washington Post on guns, even a repeating Sharps rifle. LOL For the most part, article is laughable, even Arizonians paying retirees to buy their ammo for them at Wal-Mart.

On July 29th the law went into effect. I am now glad to be able to do so, but doubt I will carry all the time. To AZ residents (or for those out of state) who may not be aware, there are still some restrictions as to where one may carry. Also Police will be asking if one is carrying, and must...
I lay no claim to being a MN expert, but was cleaning my MN tonight and noticed it could be fired with the bolt unclosed, like REALLY not fully closed, not a good thing. I seriously doubt this is the norm, so what could be the cause?
I am going to be doing some rather serious cast boolit diameter down sizing of several thou using the Lee Nose sizing dies. (yes it can be done correctly without ill effects) So wanted a beefy SS with good linkage ratio.
Right now I am bidding on a used Lyman Orange Crusher on Ebay, if can...
Hope this is the right section to post this, couldn't find any other place.
As Wife and I go shooting at different places out in the desert, decided to make a portable takedown shooting stand.
Now this is nothing fancy, just a functional target stand on the cheap, I dug through my metal...
Took my recently acquired Husky M-38 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser out yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised. Had a box of 131 grn Sellier Bellot ammo and was just going to check function of rifle, started by busting a man sized rock out around 110 paces. Four rounds and scored a hit every time...
I got a mold from Midsouth and with WW alloy it casts the boolit way over sized. At 0.271" diameter bands, find it impossible to size down to 0.266". Tried cutting WW 50/50 with soft lead, but that alloy bends the nose during sizing.
Was in the gun shop today and they had a beautiful (like new) Swedish 96 Mauser made in 1942 for 350 bucks. Is that a decent price?
I was surprised the fit and finish was that good for a war time rifle, then realized that Sweden was a supposedly neutral country.
The Load refers to C.E. Harris' load of 13 grains of Red Dot for cast boolits in several different caliber rifles.

I only have two, a 91/59 MN 7.62x54 and a FN M-98 rebarreled to 7.62x51 NATO by the Israelis.
The MN I got off a neighbor for $25.00 couple years ago. The 98 I picked up over a couple decades ago. Both are pseudo scouts and I really like the fast and handy concept.
I only shoot hard cast...
