How do I determine age on a Remington 1100?

I'm buying an 1100 on Tuesday, and I'm getting a decent deal on it, but I can't find any kind of identifying numbers or even serial numbers that would tell me how old it is.

The only numbers on the entire gun was on the left hand side of the reciever, that said (I think) 5827V.

That's it.

Any idea on the age of the gun?
 
What's so hard about calling 800-243-9700 and giving them the serial number?

I think the 1100 was intro'd in 1962.
