I am working out the details of making a 10/22 pistol and I am in major need of info for the stock. I could make one myself by cutting down a standard 10/22 stock and having a basic round pistol grip. However, I thought of buying an inexpensive folding stock for a 10/22 and cutting it down and ditching the folding butt. The problem is that I have never worked with modifying a sythetic stock. How does sanding, cutting, etc work on a sythetic stock work? Does it work at all?

I hope you know all the legal ramifications involved. If not, stop until you do.

Yeah. I do. I have not bought anything yet and I will verify everything with the BATF before doing anything. As long as the reciever has not been part of a functioning rifle it can be used to create a pistol. I can't sell it or give it away and only my heirs can inherit it. No full autos or other general illegal modifacations allowed, blah blah, blah.

Is it a 100% finished receiver?
Does it have a serial number?
If you buy it and it already has a serial number then you are, in the eyes of the law, buying a firearm.
And the 4473 you fill out had better say it is a pistol.
